I heard on the media several times that he was angry that he was being sent to Iraq, and wanted out of the military.
What a hot, stinking , squishy, steaming pile of manure from a male bovine. How many times did he re-up during the period of the Gulf War, the war in Afghanistan and the Iraq war? At lease 4 times he had the opportunity to get out during that period. And 4 times he signed the reenlistment papers and took the oath once again.

I now have a reference that should anyone jump up and yell "Allahu Akbar" deadly force may indeed be appropriate from the perspective of a reasonable man.
Amen.

” Simple math is required here folks. Unless he used a 25 shot clip (which I think could be cumbersome) he was either Dead-eye Dick or he reloaded or had help. “
Simple math - 13+30 = 43 victims @1 wound each (assuming zero misses) = 43 shots...
The numbers haven’t been given, as far as I know, but the report said ‘many’ had multiple wounds, so, for the sake of argument, add 20 additional rounds that hit, which brings the total to 63 rounds....
Then, given that even the most dead-eye marksman will miss with probably 20% of his shots (moving targets in a high-adrenaline situation), that brings the total to 80 shots fired...
Again, no info that I’ve seen on the weapon types, but 13-round magazines is a pretty safe assumption, which makes 26 rounds in battery...
80/26 = 3+ load cycles, or 6 reloads....
And you say this guy had next-to-zero weapons training?? Hmmmmmm.....

Only info I’ve “heard” comes from Lt. Gen. Cone — they were not military issue weapons and consisted of “two hand guns”. I asked my husband about the number of rounds a semi-automatic would hold and what a “glock” would hold. I forget his answer, but he said not enough to inflict multiple wounds and come up with 43 dead and wounded. I dunno’ but either the first responder hit more than the shooter four times or he reloaded OR he had help.

I forget his answer, but he said not enough to inflict multiple wounds and come up with 43 dead and wounded. I haven't heard the make of pistols, either, but it may be a safe bet to assume he had a Beretta 92, the civilian version of the US Army service pistol. It holds 15 in the mag plus one in the chamber, for 32 rounds in both guns. One reload for each gun gets him up to 62 rounds, another gets to 92 rounds...

Where’s Gunny Ermy when I need him? I need information “Lock n’ Load”. ;-)
I’m smelling skunk here — just like I did on the Duke case.

Haven’t heard ANYONE say he took time to reload. Total time before he was down was 14 minutes. Something doesn’t add up. First responder said he was down in four shots and don’t know how long it took her to get there to respond.
Assuming she wasn’t standing just outside the door, he had a few minutes on his own.

Reloads take about a couple of seconds, tops.

For someone with no combat training, minimal weapons training, in a high-stress situation??

You're not doubting that this POS actually killed & injured all these people and did so by himself are you?
He had a room full of unarmed people.
He stood up on a table and fired at everyone in the room.
It was like the proverbial “shooting ducks in a barrel”...

I couldn't remember what he said, kellynla, but given what we were told by Lt. Gen. Cone last night and what his “cousin” said about his abhorring weapons training, we found it somewhat disingenuous that he suddenly wound up with two relatively sophisticated weapons with large enough clips to do the damage he did in less than 14 minutes. I don't doubt a well-trained soldier or Marine could put out a lot of fire-power in a relatively short period of time with military issued weapons, but a doctor??? An innocent lamb who only seeks to serve his fellowman in a peaceable manner? I dunno’. It doesn't make a lot a sense to me, but I'M THE FIRST TO TELL YOU THAT I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE. I HAVE NO CLUE. I simply went to the firing range to fire an M-16 because my son is taking his commission AND I WOULD BE REMISS if I didn't make sure he could be reasonably safe. (I'm an overly protective mother, to be sure.) I bow to superior knowledge and experience.

How long do you think it takes?
Maybe if he lacked his thumbes it may have taken 10 seconds at the most.
The point is that 14 minutes, if accurate, is WAY more than enough time to reload every mag he could have carried on his body.

Okay, smarty, I’ll defer to your superior experience. ;-) Made me laugh.

I've never had military training. In fact the average military small arms training, except that for SOCOM or frontline infantrymen, is not that extensive. I could have done it easily.
My wife could have done what he is said to have done, in the time allotted, and she is only a casual shooter.
To: kellynla
Sorry - I didn’t mean to give the impression that I’m doubting, or implying, anything....
There are aspects to this that are not making sense to me, which will probably be resolved as the reporting becomes more complete.....
I’m starting to wonder if there isn’t some illicit weapons training in this guy’s background (homegrown jihadi training camp?) that could explain things....

Seriously, though, I was surprised to hear it was 14 minutes. That's a long time.

Check out
CNN.com quickly before they take it down... New video of a "smiling" Nidal Malik Hasan dressed in Muslim robe at a convenience store just before the shootings. Unreal.
Damn... just as I was posting this, CNN.com took it off their home page! Unbelievable, yet not surprising.
Here's another link to the video (I hope this one lasts - someone save it to your hard drive!):
Fort Hood suspect Nidal Malik Hasan seemed 'cool, calm, religious'
