WHY do people take vows with which they disagree on such fundamental principles?

Great Gravy .... Why become a nun?
Just like that Episcopalian 'bishop', Spong, who denied Christ's virgin birth and Resurrection ...
A. Why did these people enter into their professions (with the necessary
vows)? and
B. Why weren't they given the boot long ago?
Things that boggle the mind.

Wow, sounds like this nun will get a stern warning that they might send her a firm letter...maybe.
Sigh....
Wake me when someone ever gets in ACTUAL trouble for breaking church law.

The only thing I can come up with is either they only want to use the church as a springboard for their social service efforts, or they want to subvert the church, or both. That’s why I have no trust in churches with social agendas. I’m as fundamentalist as it gets, but I think the Moral Majority as a political entity was a bad idea. It certainly pulled Jerry Falwell away from his fundamentalist roots.

Re: 6
Agree with you on all counts.
Still, it takes a rather depraved individual to lie on their vows, and to presumably justify to themselves that it was for the 'greater good'...
I guess 'fear of God', and knowing that God hates a liar, doesn't play into the equation if you don't believe God is God...

That's true. No arguing with the bottom line that she took vows she didn't mean to keep, and there are plenty of other platforms for supporting child murder in this country. She didn't have to pick a church. But the “religious left” came into play in the last presidential election campaign, and the “emergent” and “seeker” movements tie right in with it. I really believe that it's the left’s attempt to co-opt what they consider to have been a strength for the right in past years in politics, they have no interest in Biblical Christianity. (Though I believe they're a day late and a dollar short. I don't believe the “religious right” has been much of a political power for a long time. I'm afraid President Bush rather-hopefully, unintentionally-watered down what may have been left of that movement to the point of total irrelevancy).

“Take the nun and make her watch the sonogram of an abortion.”
Sorry AppyPappy, it would do no good. If as the news reports state, she has been doing this for 6 years, her heart is made of stone. I think she should be removed from her order. And you can't convince me that her order didn't know she was doing this. So they are just sorry that they got caught. I will never contribute to this religious order.

She been doing this for YEARS and just now they “might” do something?
Its no wonder so many CINO’s are in positions of power in schools and in politics and get honors from “Catholic” institutions. There never seems to be any consequences.
