Scozzafava belongs to the Arlen Specter wing of the GOP.

This is not what a Republican spokesman for the RNC said yesterday.

The other thing about this is they imply that Hoffman is some kind of extremist. He appears to me to be nothing of the sort. He looks like a pretty mainstream conservative to me.

This should put the stop on a few members here about how noble and patriotic she is.
Liberal scum is liberal scum.

Nice way for her to pay back the national party that blew all those hundreds of thousands of OUR dollars to elect her fat ass.

She never pledged support for Hoffman.

If this is true why is she not quoted as saying this. It looks to me that this newspaper is trying to make news instead of reporting it. Does anyone have her on the record supporting Owens? If not, then this is a fabrication.

Yeah...I wouldn’t trust this “newspaper,” as it seems to be little more than a leftist blog which happens to have a print version.

If this is true, then she was the wrong person for the Republican nomination in the first place. Who does she think she is - Snarlin Spectre?

In the sunset of his political career Newt needs to just
return to writing his books on history. He seems to be
more in his element in that circle.
His political past should be just that, past

On the one hand, the only reason I’m at all surprised by this headline is that I had heard precisely the opposite reason cited for her withdrawal; “big tent” Republicans have sided with Democrats against conservatives at every turn for my entire lifetime. (Christine Todd Whitman, Arnold Schwartzenegger, William Weld, Pete Wilson, Michael Bloomberg, and on and on and on)
On the other hand, “quietly” in this context means that she has done so without any public statements. In other words, the news article cannot back up its own assertions. This is the old “unnamed sources” gambit, and is entirely worthless.

If Hoffman loses, the blame needs to be put squarely where it belongs: on the RNC leadership that chose Scozzofava in the first place, on know-nothings like Newt and Steele for letting it happen, and on cowards like Huckabee and Romney for not stepping up and supporting the conservative.
If Hoffman wins, the same people need to be chastised for letting it become an issue in the first place.
We can’t let this keep happening between now and 2012.

Nice way for her to pay back the national party that blew all those hundreds of thousands of OUR dollars to elect her fat ass. Shoot, considering the blizzard of press releases they put out promoting this woman and trashing Hoffman, they probably spent that much on cartridges for the fax machines alone.
Only half kidding.

During the day Saturday, she began to quietly and thoughtfully encourage her supporters to vote for Democrat William L. Owens.
Quietly and thoughtfully??? Don't you love how these liberals are always characterized as "thoughtful"
How about this version: During the day Saturday, she began to secretly and vindictively encourage her supporters to vote for Democrat William L. Owens

Amazing. The national Republican Party spent all that money and support on Scozzanitwit only to see her endorse the very Democrat that she was running against. They should have seen this coming.
Next time the Republican Party calls and asks me for money, we're going to have a chat before I tell them to go to hell.

If not, then this is a fabrication.I agree. They could well be making it up. On the other hand, let's see of Scozzafava denies it.
