That sounds good but the end result of the policy you recommend is American troops building schools, clinics, burning poppy fields, building oil refineries, e.g. acting as nanny staters in other countries. Liberty always takes second place to nation building. Those who lose their liberty are the American taxpayers who have to pay for it but no longer have the money! A better way to “spread around” liberty is to serve as a beacon of liberty in the world rather than trying to force it. It worked comparatively well in the eighteenth and century.

Thanks for confirming.

This is a surprise.

But I’m not sure it’s relevant. Endorsements like this, especially when done this early, have very little effect on voters. We’ll see if Cheney really actively campaigns for KBH.

If Cheney would’ve held his endorsement til the week-end before the vote (like Crist) or went on national TV to announce it in the closing weeks of the campaign (like Powell) it might mean something more.

So . . . If Liz Cheney endorses Perry does that make it even?

IMHO, if 7 out of 10 think Palin is unqualifed she has even steeper hill to climb that Johnson. Not many folks knew who Obama was at this point four years ago either.

FRiends,

I am really sickened by this. My mouth tastes like dry heave/crap and I have burning acid reflux.

I guess the moral here is not to have hero/role models on earth. I did hold DC is the highest esteem. No more.

Wow, that is big news.

I always thought Perry was more conservative than Hutchison.

I’d listen to Cheney.

“Not many folks knew who Obama was at this point four years ago either.”

Jeez Capn’ Obama gave the 2004 Keynote Speech at the Dem Convention, and in 2004 he was the only black guy in the Senate.

By October 2005 EVERYBODY knew who he was.

I got nothing against Johnson, and hope he gets some notice, but lets not kid ourselves about the steepness of the hill he’s got to climb.

I don’t agree with Cheney on this one.

But that’s what makes America great. We don’t have to.

Conservatives in TX are not going to vote for Kay Bailout period. No matter who says or does what. Cheney is a great statesman but served in areas of the government that were best for him. He is liberal socially. I wish all these people would vote for whomever they choose and allow the rest of us to do our own choosing too.

Yuck, it maybe but don’t discount Cheney’s Texas connections. This is a fundraiser in Houston on Nov. 17. Don’t forget his position as CEO with Halliburton and that alone will bring cash into the event. Then there are others such as Kellogg Brown Root. Cheney has ties to the Texas oil/gas construction industry probably better than most.

...let's be honest, having Cheney back you isn't going to win you any votes, period.

I had the exact same thought upon opening this thread. Cheney will make moderates run from KBH like the plague.

Yep kinda disgusting isn’t it. But the candidates are the ones who solicit the intrusions so what do you do. You have Palin supporting Perry, Cheney supporting Hutchison and so it goes. Really who gives a damn other than they do bring money into coffers so Texas as a whole benefits.
