“except the Tigers ballpark”

Do that also, then we won't have to put up with 30 year old juveniles playing scratch your ass and spit!

Bull doze them down and use the rubble for highway land fill or some such.

I think a lot of people would agree with this approach; however, as I understand it, it costs a lot of money to raze buildings. I gather that the city can't afford to do this.

I saw a website a few years ago of abandoned buildings in Detroit. Some of the lovely old Victorians, now boarded up and falling into ruin, almost made me cry. I wouldn’t live there with a team of 24-hour guards armed with machine guns.

Detroit is our first Nuclear City.

It looks like Hiroshima after the blast.

Guess it never occurred to me that the city of Detroit would pay for this. Being that we're burning money (Stimulus Plan) for virtually every concocted idea that comes along, why not use some of it for this? Heck, maybe the endeavor would put some people in the area back to work - appears to me to it would be a long term project...

Reality is that these homes would regain value and worth and a economic system would flourish there if the place was policed well, the criminals rounded up, and safety of person and property was maintained, if taxes were not a burden and if the bureaucracies disappeared. Those bottom line issues must be addressed before any improvements happen. Sad that leftists empty cities.

Sometime I understand why some people like Islamics, they don't put up with the garbage we allow that diminishes our property values.

With city after city run into the ground by Democrats, voters in these decaying places go to the polls and vote to keep their corrupt leaders in place.
Worse, they turn out in large enough numbers to put their states into the Democrat column in national elections, where their malignant view of statism can ruin the entire country.
The only way to save the nation is for these hell-holes to collapse...”starving the beast,” as Pres. Reagan used to say about the greedy federal government.

Total vacant land in Detroit now occupies an area almost the size of Boston...
Thanks grellis.
