Comic book art is more honest and worthy of merit than most “fine art” these days. I’ve never taken a penny of government money, even if it meant doing face sketches and caricatures in the street. At least people there appreciate what I’m doing.
“If the liberals love these papers so much, let them buy them. Let the liberals lose money.”
I agree. Heck, the electoral maps that we are spoon fed every election cycle indicate that there are equal numbers of conservatives and marxists...I mean “liberals” in this country. Let the libs buy their own tripe! If they ain’t buying it, then the papers should go under. So much of our media has moved to electronic delivery that print journalism is deminishing before our eyes.
"American society," the two Church of Journalism priests intone, "must now take some collective responsibility for supporting news reporting -- as society has, at much greater expense, for public education, health care, scientific advancement and cultural preservation, through varying combinations of philanthropy, subsidy and government policy."
Can we spell ... PRAVDA???
There’s probably nothing we can do about it. So let’s look at it this way. Obama is not taking over the newspapers, he’s nationalizing the toilet paper industry.
And Baghdad Bob, too.
This is way beyond "slippery slopish".
This is "'slipped at the top of the hill, and slid halfway down the hill already' slopish".
Conservative, moderate or liberal...I don’t ever believe in subsidizing news. People do or don’t read your *h*t....that’s it.
I think we’ll find out that without their propaganda machine they’ll be a minority party.
"Congratulations, America, on your historic election."
and the subsidies will be paid for by a tax on news outlets that have ratings. A Ratings Tax! Yes, That’s it!

I really love Heinlein.
