Nothing beats Shakespeare for horror...

Here's the problem: horror films aren't family friendly. They're gory, they're violent, and they're vulgar. Even setting that aside, there really aren't very many "conservative" movies overall and there are almost no truly "conservative" horror flicks. As an identifying Noachide I no longer celebrate "halloween." However, I still enjoy a good horror movie if it's the old-timey, classic variety, without the blood, gore, and profanity of today's movies--and preferably more sci-fi than occult.
The original 1956 Invasion of the Body Snatchers had an anti-Communist sub-text.
Where are the classics in this list? The old movies are hokey and fun without being too scary.

Not to mention an exhortation to stop watching TV.

_The Changeling_ is excellent. The ending was SOOOO sad.

The Lost Skeleton of Cadavera should be on the list... Absolutely! It is, in its own way, a masterpiece, one of the finest examples of whatever the heck it was that I've ever seen.
"Aliens? Us? Is that one of your earth jokes?"
Magnificent (sniff!)...

The one with Shelly Winters as the soon-to-be dispatched single mom? _The Night of the Hunter_. Directed by Charles Laughton, I seem to remember.

Try Borderland.
Definitely some Christian Conservative undertones to the whole thing.
Particularly when the unabashed Christian defies the Satanic cult by praying through his pain, thwarting the bad guys with the power of Christ (when he should be screaming in agony).
Oh, yeah, and the selfish Gen-Y "if it feels good, do it" dog gets squashed badly.

I also thought the first Nightmare on Elm Street was pretty clever.
You do know that the remake is coming out next year, right?

“God gave me free will and a sense of humor, and I intend to use both.”
God also doesn’t want you to sin, and by justifying watching horror films you are sinning.
Sorry, my Christianity is part of who I am. I will not be marginalized and told I cannot express my faith ONLY in Bible threads. You want me to shut up just like Obama wants Christians to shut up. No can do. :)

Never heard of it. But Hollywood has always used that as a tactic to get people in to support their trash: mix bad images with good images. If you’re a strong Christian you identify the tactic and stay away.

I would add The Shining to that list. Yes I know it has no political undertones or themes, but it is a great comedy nonetheless. I've seen The Exorcist about a hundred and sixty-seven times, and it keeps getting funnier every single time I see it.
