Obama is in some wandering mode and all of sudden, as if he just remembers, turns towards his right side of the stage but towards a floor entrance tunnel, goes down some steps to the floor and you see the little boy walk out from the wing, as if he was an arriving talk show guest, right in front of a contingency of cameras and Obama ask for the boys name (and a good reason why reports had the boys first name wrong is because Obama said Terrance after the boy said Tyren.)
But it is the moment that the boy says, “Why do people hate you?” that Obama turns his head in agreement, widens his eyes with a “Yeah, why the f@&k is that?” look, that you know it is a setup. And even then Obama doesn’t have the middle-of-the-road answer like, “Well, unfortunately President’s aren’t always liked when they are trying to...” blah, blah, blah.
I don’t care how dedicated those folks in the audience are to Obama, a good number of them felt used with that stunt and surely rolled their eyes, even if just mentally.
To follow up on my point. Watch the guy sitting in the audience (looks like first row) who had a birds eye view of the President looking towards the entry tunnel and then saw how Tyren was escorted out in a clearly planned way. Even during Obama's answer he doesn't smile giving the impression that he either wasn't a fan of Obama already or saw this for the kabuki theater that it was.
Another PR setup by Obama.
