That Cher looking mutt might not be very tasty but, here in Ky a similarly earthshaking crowning of a white Ky State U occured recently. And that particular Beauty Queen was a dead ringer for Divine, I swear it.

This school participated in a mini college fair at my high school in the late 70’s. There were five or six black families in the town at that time and none of them had high school aged kids.
The ladies manning their table had the same look on their faces as those two girls on the right. They were not happy at all to be in a room full of white kids. I remember thinking at the time...geeze, its not our fault that you were sent on a fool’s errand.
Back then I thought we were moving toward something where all of that discomfort with each other would go away. And as the years went by it did seem to get better. Blacks and whites still had their comfort zones of “our own kinds”. But there were many occasions where we could socialize and be comfortable in mixed groups and true friendships between races where we honestly did not even notice color.
Then Zero came along. Battle lines were drawn and we are now back to an early 1970’s race relations situation. The thing is, I never knew before just how much some black people hate whites just for being white.
