He just won reelection last November over desultory opposition. I did not vote for him because I was sickened at his record, and his election ads (he ran as though he were the Democrat nominee !). I voted for a candidate who advocated “None of the Above” be put on the ballot. I’m hoping this will be his last term, as he will be nearly 75 at the end of it.

I caught a snippet of news on this and I thought I heard someone say something about the ruined land being used for wind farms or solar farms. I don’t remember which, but some kind of green energy. Does that ring a bell with anyone? Perhaps their intent is to ruin the farms, buy up the cheap land, and then get money from the federal gov’t for green jobs/energy.

If I remember the election map, the counties affected are disproportionately Republican ones.

I am sure that has nothing to do with it though

destruction of this economic base will further put California over the edge causing the state to go bankrupt.

politics will effect the whole states economy. so it is not just the conservative counties that will suffer.

That’s a relief. Now, I can go to work on the more impossible task of Illinois generally.

Not to say he might not try, but by 2014, we’re going to probably have a 7R-2D House delegation, with even larger numbers in the legislature to reflect our real GOP strength (underrepresented for eons due to rodent gerrymandering), and by then, if he tries again, we’ll have a Conservative step up to take him out, or make it extremely unpleasant for him.
