Thank you for bringing that information up. It needs to be posted as often as possible.

I’m not seeing or hearing any support for Deeds here on the Eastern Shore, and I know lots of folks that tend to lean D.

We’re closing in on the end of September and I have yet to see a yard sign or bumper sticker for Deeds. Granted I haven’t seen any for McDonell either, but still.........

I think this race will be about turnout. The Democrat primary only had 4% show up and it was high profile with McAulliffe in it running lots of ads. I still think unless ACORN has overwhelming influence in Richmond and Hampton Roads, the anti-Obama/Reid/Pelosi backlash factor wins out.

Do we know what partisan breakdown the newest Rasmussen poll had, as compared to the prior poll? It seems odd that his lead would drop so much absent a larger sampling of Democrats.

I think that you have to be careful when you crow about McDonnell doing so well in “NoVA,” as he has in every poll, because it is quite possible that by “NoVA” they mean not only Fairfax, Prince William, Loudon and Arlington counties and the independent cities they enclose (including Alexandria), but a much larger area that also takes in Stafford, Spotsylvania and other conservative counties. I’m not saying that the vote breakdowns you noted aren’t bad for Deeds, they may not be as fatal as they first appear.

I can’t believe people are that frickin’ fickle.

Of course...they elected Obama...

Clam down. McDonnell's run a defensive campaign since he took the lead after the Dem primary.

Clam down your own self. Fact is there's a history of Freepers here who like to preach doom and gloom about Virginia from hundreds of miles away.

Tim Phillips has been a personal friend since he was in college. We worked together in the early 1980s.

But if you think McDonnell has run a "defensive" campaign, you're not paying attention. He's controlling the issues. The "thesis" story is over. He answered it and stopped talking about it, except to point out the absurdity of Deeds trying to keep it as an issue.

He's running hard hitting ads against Deeds. Absolutely devastating Deeds in public appearances and combine that with the most kick-butt team RPV has had in years, it's a pretty aggressive campaign playing offense.

Check out the campaign press releases if you think he's on the defense.

McDonnell beat Deeds by less than 400 votes in 2005.

It’s a very long time between now and election day. Polls this far in advance are meaningless.

I don’t know that we’ve ever met Ms. Fishtalk, but I’ve known Gabz for several years and know she has a grasp of what is happening in Virginia as well as what is happening in Deleware, where she used to live and work.

I have no idea what your previous disagreement was about, but with regard to Virginia, I’m with Gabz 100%.

You see, above all, Virginians are independent. We don’t like people from anywhere else telling us how to run our business. It’s nothing personal, it’s been that way for generations.

Virginia is, and has always been a purple state. But I love it when people from Missouri and Illinois and California come and pronounce that we’re doomed to be a blue state until Jesus comes back.

So yeah, sometimes we get a little touchy about it.

False. Heard response ads on the radio today.

And there are multiple press releases from the campaign and multiple releases and videos from RPV.

I totally agree with you that McDnnell is controlling the issues.

I’m stuck with the Pilot and Tidewater TV stations as my “local” media and the difference in the TV ads is nothing short of astounding. Deeds is running against Bush and trying to coattail Warner.

The problem is that Bush has never run for state office in Virginia and Warner hasn’t been Governor for nearly 4 years.

I made two small comments about the Governor’s race. It’s right there on the public record.

I think you all need to take your meds cause I did nothing wrong. One question I asked was what was it the WAPO revealed and the other was I asked if anyone thought the pub guy could win.

Scroll up, I did not do one single thing wrong.

This crazy GABZ person has some anger at me from “several years ago” and tells me to go away, that this is a Virginian thread, although it’s right here on FreeRepublic and I only asked two little questions.

Look, I don’t want to fight. I’m a perfectly normal person. Obviously this GABZ person is your friend. But I did nothing.

Of course it upsets me...I like to consider myself a fair and decent person.

Obviously I am under some kind of attack and again, you’ve all taught me what I need to know about Virginians.

Okay, this is in a public space.

It’s an attack on me for no reason but hey, I can’t change it. If you think it’s fair and decent then so be it.

We shall agree to disagree.

I shall stay off all threads about Virginia from now on.

How fairer can I be?

Obviously you want to fight. Stupidly I fell for it.

Look, I don’t want to fight.

Your multiple posts suggest otherwise. I was merely explaining to you why Virginians sometimes react the way we do.

I've already spent more time on this than it's worth. Have the last word if it makes you feel better.
