Hey,

Why didn’t I think of this? If we all can reach as many as possible with the facts over the next weeks, at least a few will start asking the right questions. What could be better than to have the lib next door telling his friends about how they have been punked.

Even so, it gives a reasonable idea of the max number there!

Absolutely. Like I said, I think it's a really good, solid methodology

I was there and it seemed to me that there were at least half a million, maybe more. I think the confusion stems from the fact that some people are only counting those who marched from the White House to the Capitol. Thousands more went directly to the capitol without joining the march. Our bus from NY (one of three) didn’t get there until 11:30 and the mall was already filled to capacity and closed by the police. There were other buses on the road with us who must have arrived too late for the march too. In any event, there were tens of thousands outside the fenced off area, on side streets and the like. It was truly impressive, regardless of the actual numbers.

Rush is now picking up on the British reports of 2m, even though even they have now reduced their number to 1m.

Don't forget the over-flow of people on the side streets.. and those stuck in gridlock coming into DC.

The point is.. for every one person at the protest.. there were probably 200 people who wished they could have been there!

You’re on point. The crowd size is irrelevant. It could be 10 million and mean nothing if the media skips it over.

The answer is to email the collection of crowd shot photos to all the people you know, especially moderates and libs.

Ask one simple question: "What did your usual news source tell you about this?"

If the answer is "nothing", then ask "What else do you think they are covering up by omission?"

Begin the dialogue.

It may be only the second biggest march that DC has ever seen, the biggest one will come IF they pass any health care reform bill. That one may not be as peaceful, however.

Thank you.  Your calculations are about right.(I am no pathagerin).  National Parks says Penn. Ave. is 90 feet wide curb to curb..

The distance is twice your calculations and a little more.  You gave an estimate of 198,000 people.  That number however cannot remain static as the number of people moving through the camera continue for another hour.

So using your numbers 198,000 and doubling the distance would give us 400,000 people!

Beginning at the Willard Hotel
Walking directions to E Capitol Circle
1.3 mi – about 25 mins
Suggested routes

1401 Pennsylvania Ave NW
Washington, DC 20004
1. Head southeast on Pennsylvania Ave NW toward 14th St NW
220 ft
2. Turn right at 14th St NW
253 ft
3. Turn left at Pennsylvania Ave NW
1.1 mi
4. At the traffic circle, take the 1st exit onto E Capitol Circle
Destination will be on the left
413 ft
E Capitol Circle

The camera is overlooking the Willard Hotel.

Here is a link to the video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LoPud1TeubM

I knew the distance was around a mile because if I have walked it once I have walked it 50+ times.

That is 300,000 people, minimum, at the apogee.  There is no other way to count it.

BTW, the people who come through this camera shot, do not represent the sum total of all attendees, only the ones who took this route.

I will work on this more as I have some work to do.

Thanks for your analysis. There were people on side streets and supposedly people on buses who could not get into the city. I think we may have some trolls here under counting. A person posted last night about a gent who has lived in DC for 60 years and he said it was the biggest march on DC he ever saw by far.

I talked to a co-worker today who is a Clinton Democrat. They were calling their Congressman’s office about Obama DeathCare. Their family around the country are moderates. They are furious with Obama and his DeathCare. The relatives are going to tea parties, calling and faxing.

People are furious.
