Is this the group that Sean Connery supports?
I never said he insulted the commoners. He did insult the leadership, and I’m pretty sure the judiciary in the UK is part of that. Had the PM or someone else in power pushed this in the proper direction, perhaps the terrorist would still be rotting in a cell somewhere in the UK.
“Is this the group that Sean Connery supports?”
Yes, Sean Connery is a member of the Scottish National Party (SNP), he has also donated money to them and campaigned for them.
Here is more on the party:

Of course Connery loves Scotland so much that he lives in The Bahamas.
I posted this about the SNP on another thread, earlier today:
The current Scottish National Party administration only has a plurality of one vote in the devolved Parliament, and has two extra votes from the Greens.
The Parliment has 73 constituency (district) seats. It also has 56 seats selected by proportional representation.
The SNP only got 32.9 percent of the vote for the 73 district seats, and 31 percent of the vote for the 56 proportional representation seats.
Distribution of Seats: Total (district seats , proportional representation seats)
SNP: 47 (21, 26)
Labour: 46 (37, 9)
Conservatives: 16 (4, 12)
Liberal Democrats: 16 (11, 5)
Green Party: 2 (0, 2)
Presiding officer*: 1

*The Presiding Officer was elected as a Conservative but acts as a non-partisan referee.
The royals are not the leadership. They are more like what hollywood celebrities are in the US.
He insulted the leadership as well as the royals. He did not insult the commoners. The people who COULD have intervened, might not have been so inclined as a result. In fact, I’m not sure this country should expect many favors at all from the UK thanks to Obama.
I think you knew what I was talking about, but for some reason felt you had to be contrary. Fine. But it makes you look dumb.
Why are you calling me dumb? I’m pointing out that you are totally misinterpreting the political climate in the UK.
Believe me, MANY Scots are and only getting angrier.
The SNP will reap the whirlwind.
I’m sure the majority are.
Because it was cheaper to pay and admit than to continue with the sanctions. The case was shaky and this was plain at the time.
From the Libyan POV it was a contract hit. You are correct, that the Iranian mullahs (but not the government or the people) sourced the contract and are responsible.
If I were President I would make sure they are repaid.
One of my ancestors his Robert the Bruce as he was avoiding the English. Later, in a battle, he was slashed across the abdomen. He held his stomach together with one hand and continued swinging his sword in the other until he fell over dead.
That was a Scotsman.
Exactly = there are multple variants of this, although there is strong evidence apparently tying the Syrians. At the very least, I was hoping we’d get a cold hard rescrutinisation of the case from the Scots.
One would think any new information, or newly-released information, would have been brought to the authorities' attention confidentially at least when Megrahi's appeal was under consideration.
I agree with the poster above, though, that the Libyans' waving a Cross of St. Andrew during that disgusting rah-rah rally they held for the terrorist was completely uncalled for. I should think the British and American ambassadors would both be called home for consultation over that little display.
The Cross of St Andrew has a little bit of meaning here in the States, by the way -- you see them around, here and there. The American version, anyway. ;)
