“Team Romney threw Election2008 to Obama.”
Oh Puleeze. Romney was defeated by McCain. McCain ran his campaign, picked his team and whiffed multiple opptys to defeat The One. Bless his RINO heart, McCain couldnt bring himself to fully expose Obama, his Ayers/Wright/socialist/leftwing connections *or* stand up against the bipartisan bailout/TARP bill. He had 2 bullets to bring Obama down and wasted them both.
Except for picking Palin, a Cluster-Huck. You might almost say ... Team *MCCAIN* threw the election to Obama.
Not sure about that. The Rinos tended to vote for McCain in the primaries.
And that was consistent with earlier pre-primary polling data that showed moderates by far were the highest category of voters who said they wouldn't vote for a Mormon POTUS.
“He is a cultist, no semi about him.”
Birthers calling the married semi-billionaire Romney a ‘cultist’ on the backs of his mormon background is ... ironic indeed.
Romney’s real problem for the larger non-anti-mormon GOP is his support of health insurance mandates. The Obamacare debates is highlighting the inconvenient truth that health insurance mandates, dare I say it? ... suck.
We are voting for President not Pastor.
Huckabee can out-Christian the others, but he cant out-govern or out-conservative others. Frankly, its not needed and it turns a lot of voters off.
I will say this - God spare us a rerun of 2008. I dont want the choice to be between Huck, Romney and a RINO like it was.
New blood is needed. Mike Pence? Mitch Daniels? Bobby Jindhal? Haley Barbour?
“Bottom line, to win in 2012, the GOP is going to have to find a full-spectrum conservative in order to have a shot at winning, regardless of how the rest of Obamas term goes. It cant just be anyone, either. It has to be someone who can effectively communicate these principles while dealing with the mainstream media and attacks.”
I agree.
But if you create such a tall order that nobody who’s running fills the bill, you are left with ... the leftovers.
We’ve run leftovers in a lot of years, most recently 2008. I hope we dont run leftovers again.
Exactly! Unfortunately we live in a time of American Idol type elections (since 1960), ten second sound byte news reporting and bumper sticker platitudes. And best of all we have an electorate that is either willfully ignorant or just plain self destructive.
The poll numbers tell me that they can’t shake Palin’s support with the base. Those numbers have been consistent all year. All the rest of it is noise 2 1/2 years from primary season.
What’s funny is that Thompson IS a polygamist, while Romney is not.
At the start I was very interested in Romney. The longer he stayed, the less I liked him. He could be the poster boy for country club Republicanism, which can’t even get a majority of Republicans. Romney should go back into business and do some more turnarounds. He’s good at it, and it will be doing good. You aren’t going to be President, Governor Romney.
I' ve got news for you, FTDS. The media will butcher ANY conservative candidate.
...and her poll numbers will follow.
Didn't work with Reagan. The opposite hasn't worked with Obama.
The media creates illusions the same as magicians do. The illusions look so real that many cannot believe they're fake. It takes courage to buck a really good illusion. That kind of courage is necessary now more than ever in conservatives and Republicans.
Obama's support is illusion created by the media, and poll manipulation plays a part in the creation of that illusion. The majority of Americans do not, and have never, supported this man. IF THEY DID, DEMOCRATS WOULDN'T HAVE HAD TO CHEAT TO WIN.
Remember it.
A person can be a Christian and still be for big nanny-state government. I am a Christian who understands that nanny-state government even with the best of intentions, invariably results in more, not less, immorality. Example: a nanny-state government sabotages how we are able to fulfill our individual duty to charity; that is immoral. In Christianity, it is incumbent upon the individual to come to Christ and embrace His teaching, and I believe that in Judaism, it is incumbent on the individual to follow God's law.
I am as opposed to Huckabee as I am to Romney; neither are limited government conservatives, and the Judeo-Christian ethic has demonstrably THRIVED BEST where government is limited. The bigger the government, the more damaging to the Judeo-Christian ethic. However, Huckabee doesn't have the monetary clout to whang the GOP as Romney does, hence he is the lesser danger.
Your thinking has you trapped in a box where the liberal media would control every move Republicans make. That is operating from fear, and losers operate from a place of fear. Winners operate from a place of confidence. My advice: Discard ENTIRELY any considerations of what the media will or will not do with regard to a potential candidate. Until you do, you will operate from fear and you will be advocating a strategy where Republican options will ALWAYS be manipulated by the MSM.
Another Rino site They only rip birthers and Palin. Thats me.
Hunter/DeMint. Accept no RINOs
There is plenty to be against, beyond what he believes in his religious life.
He is not popular with the base of the Republican Party because he is a liberal, its that simple.
Romney, while having a nice smile and handsome face is a RINO turd.
What if if Mark Levin or Dennis Prager ran? Would you vote for either one of them?
“He is not popular with the base of the Republican Party because he is a liberal, its that simple.”
To simplistic people, it is that simple. To non simplistic people, they’d notice that his party negatives are not much higher than Palin’s or Huckabee’s.
liberal? seeing what waxman, pelosi, obama, reid and hillary do, it goes far beyond what even centrist or wimpy Republicans do. Romney’s against cap&trade, amnesty, and higher spending and taxes. He spent last year proposing lower taxes and a tough immigration stance. In short, against almost all Obama’s agenda.
Romney’s not good on some things, flipfloppy on social issues, caving in on mandates in Mass. and like other GOP elites was for the TARP bailout. In truth, Romney’s just a smarter version of GWB - good on some things, bad on some things, not real conservative, but also a long shot from what real left-liberal Obama is.
Romney is unpopular with birthers? Well, that slice of the conservative grassroots that likes to believe and say false things to advance the cause and go for conspiracy theories and over-the-top expressions seems to get a lot of mileage with Romney. It might also be an elite/populist thing, since well-suited semi-billionaire Romney reeks of elite.
