I have long thought (and occasionally been ridiculed for it) that the boomers - I am a tail-end boomer myself - were going to get a nasty surprise once they started reaching 65. They had instilled so few values in their own children that many of those children would gladly shove mom/dad off to the rendering plant for convenience's sake alone. Add the thought of grabbing their assets (in whatever forms) to the convenience factor and the kids would trip over themselves to get ma and pa into some sort of holding pen that would keep them out of the way until the reaper showed up
(And if he was a bit slow, maybe the process could be sped up.)

With all due respect to Fr. Eutenauer, the “greatest generation” was not us baby boomers but our parents who are largely gone already. OTOH, whatever the moral, spiritual and political deficiencies of us boomers, we are verrrrrry good at being the pig in the python and we vote. If Comrade O expects boomers to go away quietly to save the gummint money, he is in for a verrrrry rude surprise at the polling precincts of America in 2010 and beyond.
