“You have accused me of saying that I said things (about conservatives) that I have not said here, nor have I ever said. You have said things about President Bush that are patently untrue.”

Of course you have. You’ve attacked everyone here critical of GWB as mentally ill. Read your own posts.

Everything I said about GWB was true. I wish it wasn’t. He was a bad President - not that we’ve had very many good ones in recent memory. He was a LIBERAL. He expanded government. He has STATED that he wanted to remake the country into a Latin American one. He did a few good things in office, but on balance, we’ll be paying the literal bill for his Teddy Kennedy-inspired agendas long after he is dust. Although, the way spending has increased since last year under the Joker, we may not have to - we’ll just go bankrupt and suffer economic collapse.

Backing Kosovo (not fixing one of Billy’s mistakes): helped Al Qaeda establish a beachhead in Europe.

Charity with the public purse in Africa and other places.

Giving up easily on SS reform, but fighting hard to import 30-50 million new Democrats.

Medicare Part-D

NCLB

He even relaxed our restrictions on AIDES-infected immigrants. Seriously.

These are Democrat policies and ideas. This cannot be denied. Many find the truth offensive. I’m sorry you do.

“Stop doing it. You have insulted me in every post with things that are not true. Stop doing it.”

You keep calling me a liar. Stop doing that.

I’m looking forward to Cheney’s book. I want to know WHY they went Left.

You seem to forget that people can read, 10 day newbie.

You can't say that I've "attacked everyone here critical of GWB as mentally ill" and expect to have any credibility. It makes you look desperate to say things that are so obviously untrue.

So just stop saying it, apologize, and it will be fine. I'll just ignore you, as I should have before you started lying about me (when I thought you were a legitimate freeper).

Just what do you think accusing us of having some sort of syndrome means?

I will not apologize for telling the truth.

I will, however, ignore you from now on.

I saw the question raised here on FR regarding his unwillingness to "fight back," and his turning the other cheek under incessant and ugly leftist attacks. The question was, is it possible to be too overtly Christian to be a good President because you just aren't as nasty as politics requires you to be.

Dearest Lord, what a question! I think that is an easy one to answer. The more Christian one is, the more Christ-like that person becomes. So let me see if I understand this correctly: some here are saying that one becomes unsuitable to be president if the person has become too much like Jesus Christ. Logically, that would mean the most unsuitable Christian would be Jesus Himself. I would love to hear from any Christians who actually think that. I may be misoverestimating them. Perhaps what they are saying is that being a Christian prevents one from playing the game dirty enough to be effective.

WELL WHY DIDN'T THEY JUST SAY SO??? I happen to know of someone who is capable of appearing OH SO Christian, and yet he is completely able to play the game dirtier than you could ever imagine. Would he suit you people who think so? He would be pleased to meet you. Have you guessed his name?

You all need to get a grip.

Good. Ignore me.

btw, the word "everyone" means something. I've had some productive conversations with some folks here who are very critical of President Bush who have made legitimate comments.

You just don't happen to be one of them, and have said some cultish, extremist things. But I haven't even called you "mentally ill." Everyone who believes and regurgitates extremist cult things is not insane. Actually, I don't think you're insane at all. Just young, arrogant and gullible (bad combo).

Oh..... unless you're some kind of a megalomaniac, you shouldn't think of yourself as "everyone" anyway. You're not that important.

Now, since the source of your untrue statements has now been clearly presented, we can both ignore each other. :)

I think what they were trying to say is that "being a Christian prevents one from playing the game dirty enough to be effective."

IIRC, that was the context of the discussion (and to be fair it was a while ago, so my memory is slightly fuzzy about it).

The left was beating on President Bush, and he wasn't beating back. There have been recent threads where at least one or two said that his "niceness" and unwillingness to fight the left "dirty" enough was what gave us Obama.

It's completely preposterous, IMO. And you're right.....it makes absolutely no sense to say that being "too much like Jesus Christ" makes one unsuitable to be President.

But that, indeed, is what some folks around here believe.

I would so much rather have a brother in Christ in the Oval Office with whom I have a few policy disagreements than to have a conservative who is ruthless and gets in the mud. I can trust the former, but not the latter.

Amen - and now you have me wondering about my thoughts and statements on Cheney. It is a key question and I don't know the answer to it. I don't recall ever hearing him address his position (not synonymous w/ opinion).

I think Reagan showed that it is possible to respond to critics and the media in a way that shuts them down without being mean spirited or vindictive. But it is not an easy thing to do.

Agree about Reagan. He had such a way with words that even his "There you go again" was able to soften things. In watching lots of pressers, I saw Bush use humor to his advantage as well, but I truly think the water was so poisoned with hatred and vitriol from leftists, that there wasn't much Bush could do.

Political hatred rose to a whole new level when Bush was President. (Unfortunately, in the anonymity of the internet, some of the same kind of hatred can be seen from the right - and I've seen far too much of it).

I don't know much about Cheney's faith. He's not too vocal about it. I do know that he gives a huge percentage of his income to charity - and that might say something about him. And I do know as well that he's an honest and trustworthy man.
