This suggests to me that Canadians are exposed to more radiation during their procedures than Americans.

Actually, in the case of this particular study, Canadians referred by their Canadian doctors to the US for radiation therapy received higher doses in the US until Canadian doctors requested the US doctors administer the same dosage.

Canadian cancer patients referred to the US for treatment.

Ultimately, American cancer patients have better chances of surviving than do Canadians.

Another sign of the great socialized mess that is Canadian healthcare??

Yes just wait and see what a disaster it becomes for the Canadians under Obamacare when Canadians will no longer be able to receive treatment in the US because of US rationing.

I thought this was a joke.

Turns out there really are "radioactive Canadians at the U.S. border." Whoda thunk it.

I'm hoping that the highly sensitive nature of the scans and the frequent 'alerts' will not result in a lowered vigilance after so many 'false alarms'.....few things are worse than 'crying wolf' too many times to render a defensive system ineffective.

Agreed. Hopefully it won't turn into complacency. I have to admit, though, it's somewhat refreshing to find out that these sensors are sensitive enough to detect such tiny amounts of radiation. I'm guessing that if a large quantity of something (like a dirty bomb) went through, the various machines would just go bonkers. Hopefully with all sorts of blinky lights and honking horns. :-)
