Most likely ... Seattle was a really nice place in the early 70s, especially when Boing Boing shut down. Like no traffic. Was fun. Real estate was cheap.

Ah, the good ol days ... they may be coming back!

Sure, that must have swayed the Board big time. I remember that canard, but had little to do with the anit-business, anti-Boing Boing sentiments in lefty controlled Seattle.
