But desperate times demand desperate measures. So I say: send a message. Join the resistance. Buy nothing.

Excellent advice imho.

OK, I’m a little slow when it comes to economics (which may be why I’m not in the top 20% like y’all), so bear with me. If you folks who do have some disposable income refuse to spend it to spite Obama, and the entire economy fails, how does this benefit anyone? You may be rid of Obama in 2012, but America will be in ruins. And if America is in ruins, I don’t think you or anyone else will be collecting an income that will enable you to continue your present affluent lifestyle.

If I’m seeing this wrong, please explain it to me.

That is the one way to strangle the Leviathan. Simply shrug. I stopped going out to eat once a week with my family, I didn't put a new roof on this year as planned(it's not leaking-just a little worn down), and I am holding off on buying a new car which I could afford and reallywant. That's easily 50K I would have spent but I am not going to help these clowns.

I also minimized my the tax taking out of my paycheck and plan on filing an extension.

If every conservative did this, we would bring the socialists to their knees.

We would only cease and desist once our demands for the return of the Constitution and individual liberty was met.

I was looking into putting a website together like stangletheleviathan dot com or something and would appreciate any help from FReepers in putting the website and a list of demands together .

There are some items one can’t help buying. Sure, big ticket purchases are not necessities.

But, it’s possible to extend this even to necessities. Stock up at sale prices on 3 mos to a year’s worth of toothpaste, soap detergent, cola, ....

I agree with this attitude, in principle. Then again, I’ve never been a profligate spender. I have always lived well within my means and it’s my intent always to do so.

But Obama has a nasty little surprise “tax” waiting for savers. It’s called inflation.

Inflation changes the picture substantially, and the strong probability of significant inflation influences my own personal money strategy.

I hope the selfish, snooty-*ss SOB, loses his money in the bank, and has to go out and get a real job. It would serve his worthless hide right.

It’s making me think maybe Obama is on the right path and ought to hit twits like this for more than he is planning.

parsy, who says to the guillotine with this goober! Liberty, Equality, Fraternity! (I’d sing that French song here, but I don’t know no French)

Buy nothing and max out your IRA and 401(k) contributions keeping your money out of the governmeents hands. Lower your withholdings so you break even in April, put the additional “take-home” in tax deferred savings.

"Join the resistance. Buy nothing.

Having been a member of the resistance for years, I can't take that advice.

We are done with saving, scrimping & making do. This is no longer the America where that is admirable or even wise. It only makes you the target of higher taxes, so you can foot the bills that Obama is ringing up at an unprecedented rate. And if you think ANY of the current administration's programs will be rescinded by the next administration, you are far more optimistic than I.

Your wealth (no matter how well you guard it) is no longer your own. And day by day, it will be even more of a target by the wealth re-distributors. Spend it yourself or watch others appropriate it & spend it for you.

I have cut back spending considerably.

Fine with me...Hussein gets as little from me as possible, because he will be taking from me as much as possible.

Economically Retarded is the best way to describe him and his followers.

It’s not political for me. We’ve been trimming debt, increasing available cash for a while now.

The detached garage really needs new siding. But the quotes came back at 4K or more, we bought a hundred bucks’ of paint and did a patch job.

If we need something big, we look for a sale and free financing.

It’s about the anti-Christ Obama, but it’s not political. I just think that he’s harming the recovery and likely setting us up for a double-dip recession, among other problems down the road.

All warfare is based primarily on the deception of an enemy. Fighting on a battlefield is the most primitive way of making war. There is no art higher than to destroy your enemy without a fight—by SUBVERTING anything of value in the enemy’s country.___ Sun Tzu, Chinese philosopher, 500 B.C.

Personally, i think this is the wrong on several fronts. First, why don’t the well off & small business owners bitch to the press and anyone else that will listen ? Not speaking out is the biggest part of Americas problem. The left do not own the Soapbox. Political Correctness has got to be relegated to the dust bin of history. If you know that your message is based in truth & facts. Then by damn, just get out there and say so !

Why would anyone spend on anything but the essentials or to repair, replacing only when absolutely necessary, what they already have?

Some say market losses are just on paper, but that's not what it felt like to me, nor are the tax increases that are all but guaranteed to come, including the end of the Bush tax cuts. Maybe happy days will be here again, but it's batten down the hatches time now. To think we have obamanomics at least until 2012...God help us.

Solidarnosk!

I am in complete solidarity. We've laid off as many Obama supporters as we could identify and I'm not spending money on diddly right now. I'm not supporting Obama's nightmare. I'll not use my money to help his Failed Obama Administration© and I really don't want to look well off right now because I don't want ACORN goons harassing me because I have the audacity to be successful. So don't look to me Obama to make your political dreams come true...
