You clearly stated that those who do not agree with you on Keyes should stay out of the debate. In other words, if I don't like Keyes then I should shut the hell up. So yes, I took it as a demand. But now you say it is a warning which I didn't heed...have you gone from demands to threats now? Nice...

I'll give my opinion about Keyes on this forum or anywhere else and if you don't like it, too bad. Intimidation only makes me more resolute, so you can stuff your "warnings".

(I am not Iowahawk. He is a different user.)

Keyes has been a disaster in electoral politics because he has run extraordinarily bad campaigns, complete with gross financial irregularities, that have resulted in extraordinary support for Dems. Now he has started a third party to help Democrats, apparently out of spite.

Keyes can and should engage in all the free speech he wants, but can not be considered a respected voice in electoral politics.

you were the first poster on the thread to offer up insults, of the exact sort that is commonly used to attempt to shut people up and turn people away from what Alan is saying.

My post: "I agree with his words in this column, but it really seems ironic to hear Alan Keyes talk about political victory." is hardly "insults" or an attempt to "shut people up."

This is a common maturity problem among fringe people. You cannot accept even the mildest critique. You fly into a rage and start swearing and promising to get revenge, etc., etc..

I’m certainly no more “fringe” than you are.

Your party got 0.04% last year and you are not fringe. OK. It must be the evil, foolish American peoples’ fault and not at all because of your behavior.

Who cares. You lost too, with your Judas candidate. Matters little what margin you lost by.

We’re Reagan conservatives. Straight up the line. We represent the mainstream of America ideologically. You may not like it, but that’s the way it is.

Party labels don’t mean squat.

Political parties do, in fact, mean something. One man alone can accomplish nothing. Only those who can organize and propagate their ideas can make history.

Our organizing and ideas are doing just fine, thanks.

Just doing the jobs the Republicans won’t do.

Thank you. And though we disagree, I was sincere when I said I do admire you having the courage of your convictions. Truly. I am impressed.

I appreciate your opinion.

Just as “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” so are other opinions, especially political ones. I think it has to do with ones opinion of a subject or person from the beginning. When I first saw and heard of Alan Keyes I was impressed with his ability to get straight to the heart of a matter and articulate the situation so well. I was impressed with his thinking and then his speaking.

I also admired Jean Kirkpatrick and she thought enough of Keyes to appoint him as one of her ambassadors at the UN.

I admire Keyes willingness to attack a problem head on regardless of the risk to his reputation or what the media might say. Others consider this to be political theater or antics. When he ran for president the media did ignore him and marginalize him as much as possible. If he thought that was because of media racism it is not an unusual reaction for a black person, as we have seen repeatedly recently.

He tried to defeat Obama in Illinois by going into the lion’s den of Chicago politics. He had little chance but he tried. Others see that as a political stunt. I don’t. I see it as doing what others would not do regardless of consequences. The same with his demonstration at Notre Dame. Because he is well known the media could not ignore him and it drew more attention to the fact that Notre Dame was honoring a person, Obama, who is not only pro-abortion, which is against church doctrine, but also supports killing those who survive the procedure. Keyes presence helped despite the media’s attempt to ridicule him. Apparently, some Freepers bought into the ridicule.

I am not claiming to be the final word on Keyes, just expressing my individual admiration of the man. Others don’t feel the same.

Thanks for seeing that.
