Last year at this time, I would have balked at the idea that the internal politics of Iran and the USA would be so eerily similar.

It's moved far, far beyond a Mousavi/Khatami versus Ahmadi revolution.

Sounds like the “Beginning” of the Republic and the “End” of Islamo Fassism.

Bring it on, A Free Iranian people in a Free Republic.

We can hope it’s the beginning of a Free Iran, but the Islamo Fascists are the ones with all the fire power so far. The Iranian people are strong and inventive, though. Through Twitter.com they found a way to get their news to the world when all other routes were closed. We may need to learn a lot from them.

Yes, Determination and Resolve.

They have that. And are a proud people.

Unfortunately they are “ruled” by Islamo Fascists.

Similar to the “Fascist wanta be” here.

I am sure that ours has taken note what is happening there and considering the U.S. is different. We are armed.

Digging around for background...found this from the NYTimes:

In Iran, Both Sides Seek to Carry Islam’s Banner

********************************EXCERPT**********************************

By NEIL MacFARQUHAR
Published: June 21, 2009

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s supreme leader, ended his prayer sermon in tears on Friday, invoking the name of a disappeared Shiite prophet to suggest that his government was besieged by forces of evil out to destroy a legitimate Islamic government.

The opposition leader, Mir Hussein Moussavi, in criticizing the government, demanded the kind of justice promised by the Koran and exhorted his followers to take to their rooftops at night to cry out, “Allahu akbar,” or “God is great.”

In the battle to control Iran’s streets, both the government and the opposition are deploying religious symbols and parables to portray themselves as pursing the ideal of a just Islamic state.

That struggle could prove the main fulcrum in the battle for the hearts and minds of most ordinary Iranians, because the Islamic Revolution, since its inception, has painted itself as battling evil. If the government fails the test of being just, not least by using excessive violence against its citizens, it risks letting the opposition wrap itself in the mantle of Islamic virtue.

“If either the reformists or the conservatives can make reference to Islamic values in a way that the majority of citizens understand, they will win,” said Mohsen Kadivar, a senior Iranian religious scholar teaching Islamic studies at Duke University.

Republic... shmepublic. An empty, utterly meaningless word.

North Korea is a “republic”, every second backwater thuggocracy calls itself “republic”.

Iran 30 years ago turned from a modernist authoritarian monarchy to a totalitarian oligarchy run by a gang of mullahs supported by the Revolutionary Guards. Today it’s increasingly a totalitarian oligarchy run by a gang of Revolutionary Guards supported by a group of mullahs.

It’s not the transition from “republic to dicatorship” it’s “radical mullah dictatorship to radical guard dictatorship”.
It’s merely a reverse of the role of players. Ahmadinejad is the poster boy of the Guard-background non-clerical thugs.

I have a feeling Iran is going to go off the deep end and have a even worse upper echelon leadership. Put another way. They are not going to gain a better government nor freedom of thought and movement and personal actions. Their key problem is their dependence of Islam as the final authority.

Perhaps if Yazdi where to somehow gain the supreme position, it will finally lead to a total revolt against Islam in Iran.
Surely growing numbers of partially and better educated Iranians will clearly see their ass is grassed if he comes into power.

Mesbah-Yazdi is a total whackjob who preaches messianic Shi’a Islam and is Ahmanutjob’s religious advisor.

Gee. I’m slipping. I forgot all about The Shark and the Crocodile article from 2006. Or perhaps I overlooked it. I notice it only had three comments afforded it.
