An 89 wrangler probably is fuel injected. Generally cars that are pre-1985 are before fuel-injection, and generally those 1985 or newer are fuel injected. A way to remember this is that around 1985-86 was when the first cars came out that you could attach a code reader to (ODB). Before that there were no computers to attach anything to (unless it was proprietary to a certain high end vehicle).
