The time is coming (probably soon after the elections following the soon to be passed amnesty) when we’ll begin to ignore the senate and the house.

A better health care solution would be to abolish Congress.

Does anyone know if congresscritters are allowed to bring weapons into the chambers? If so, that’s what I would do, if I were a congresscritter.

Note to DC politicians. Stay in DC, you are not welcome at home.

If you travel or move across state lines, forget about protecting yourselves and your families with your licensed firearms.

It would really really be nice to have pro 2A articles and opinions that were factual and accuarate. This one isn't.

I would love to hear some of our 2nd Amendment FReepers weigh in on this one. My current CCA is honored via reciprocity with about 13 other states. Does this failed Federal legislation negate that or just does it just fail to provide me blanket reciprocity for all 50 states?

You are correct and with this vote...NOTHING CHANGED! Losing this vote did not change anything so if we crossed state lines with a fire arm before we can still do so.

Yep. It completely ignore the existing reciprocity agreements, etc.

“Losing this vote did not change anything so if we crossed state lines with a fire arm before we can still do so.”
In essence, yes. However, there is still the question left unanswered of whether liberal enclaves such as New York City can preclude you from traveling through their jurisdictions with a firearm, even if it’s packed away in your trunk. Common sense says the answer should be no, but liberals don’t employ common sense. There is also still HB-45 and SB-2099 lingering around that would establish a national registration and licensing scheme. Never take your eyes off these bastards for a moment because at their heart they are all gun grabbers and will impose confiscation the moment they think they can get away with it.

No wonder he excerpted. Publishing the whole blog would have been embarassing.

This is so misreported. The Senate vote did not change any existing reciprocity laws and did not prohibit “packing” across state lines. It did kill an attempt to make a concealed carry license like a driver's license, good across the country.

This has been in the news in various forms over the past week.

I took a lot of flak this week, since I was actually pretty thankful the Thune Amendment was not passed.

Even though the Thune Amendment would have done nothing more than take down the reciprocity walls of states that do not recogonize other states CCW provisions, it would have possibly opened the door to further inquiry by the Feds.

Letting the Feds IN on any of the various STATE permit laws, even by this Amendment, could possibly open a door to FEDERAL regulations and guidelines on what is rightfully a states issue.

When the government wants to 'help', it is usually about control.

Congress goes for another direct challenge to the sovereign rights of citizens that were well established before we had a Constitution. The Second Amendment did not grant a power to government, it insured that government would not interfere with a power of the people.
Do we really need to accept that Congress or the Courts for that matter really have the final say? Where would the hopey and changey crowd be if they were forced to follow the law?
Congress is supposed to represent us and they hold sway only so long as the people believe they are doing their job. Radicals aren’t the only ones entitled to write their own rules.
An Assistant Chief of Police I knew well often said, “CCW,isn’t a problem until it is”. He also said, “It’s far better to have it when you need it than to think about how you wished you had it right now”. He had a clear grasp on the obvious.
