When I was a kid, I was taught to be responsible. “Do the crime-do the time.” Pay your bills on time and in full. Help little old ladies across the street. All that jazz. I have also tried to instill those same values to my own children. Explain to me how I am to tell them their country is wasting BILLIONS of dollars with this ridiculous spending. How do I justify to them that we can’t go out to eat as much as we used to because I have to pay OUR bills?

Wait till you see the bill for the labor that will be involved in forcing the turtles to go through the tunnel when it turns out that they don’t want to go there after all.

Don’t you see how this is all supposed to work folks? If you put honest money into dishonest hands, the dishonest folks tend to blow their money a lot quicker than honest folks. By the dishonest blowing their money, it will put money into the economy, speeding the economic recovery. If the stimulus money is given to honest/hard working folks, they’ll just put it into their savings/investment accounts, not spurring the economy...
Just ignore the headlines.../sarc.
It sounds too much like bread and circuses from the past. The govt is actively buying votes with food.

You knew this was coming. This is just the tip of the iceberg with regard to wasteful spending and fraud in the stimulus. The inspector general of the porkulus basically admitted that people would be amazed and outraged when his report is released in October.
We must begin using the term “treason” to address these expenditures and passing bills in the middle of the night without debate.....TREASON....for God’s sake it’s TREASON!!!
To quote (as best I can recall) the current health care brain surgeon who operates at 1600 Penn Ave.
His ONLY criteria beyond simply spending the money, is that it has to go in ways that ingratiate patronage so he can command control for himself and his morally bankrupt political party.
If it went for buggy whips, so much the better as far as his strategy goes.

LOL! I’m sure in that project there will be a job for a turtle leader to get the beasts through the tunnel, and a turtle counter to write a full report for follow-on grant money.
That’s +2 stimulus jobs, man! Full employment!
