Democrats are hostile to job growth.

And for you young folks who supported Democrats, you have voted your time away, because you will spend more time on the job to save for things you want, and longer loans times for payoff.

30 year Car loan. 60 year mortgage. Thanks Democrats and your supporters.

In the days since McArthur flashed his feelings on the bakery's electronic billboard, he was contacted by Carnahan's office and agreed to take the message down.

Wonder how congenial that conversation was.....

OK this clean energy act hasnt been thought through very clearly.

But, question...Mr McArthur says he is worried that “high prices could cost his company up to $15,000 a year in an industry with a very tight margin for profit.” Well, wouldn’t the high prices cost every company in his industry the same? Surely it shouldn’t make any difference, at least in terms of competitive advantage (I know it will increase inflation all round).

I think the idea is that it will reduce the competitiveness of domestic industries and manufacturers against foreign competitors not bearing the brunt of higher expense / taxes.

One of the obsessions of communists is to have the collectivity take over all of the means of production. They can’t do it just yet, so they do it incrementally. This is just one step on the road to complete government control of businesses.

He runs a "small business". The ability of his competitors (large chains) to withstand the tremendous rise in utility costs is overcome because of their large volume discounts.

When all of his customers are also struggling with higher utility bills and gasoline prices, they aren't going to be stopping by the bakery for a dozen doughnuts, or special ordering pies and cakes. They will be baking at home, if they can afford to even do that.

Furthermore, local bakeries will be beat out by national chains like Wal Mart and Target who can spread bakery overhead over other areas, like clothing and make-up, and who no doubt will have exemptions and carbon credits to trade, unlike a small business.

While I agree it is important to pressure the Senate now, I urge all of us to reconnect with our representatives in the House again too.

Tell them how disappointed you are that such a huge tax can pass in the middle of a severe economic downturn, especially one based upon pseudoscience. Tell them you don't want to be shackled by “Green Shirts” who want to control every aspect of your being. Tell them that while you don't consider yourself a single-issue voter, that you do consider this issue to be of paramount importance. Ask them again to kill this bill if they get another chance.

Why?

(1) The House needs to be constantly reminded that anger over the handling of this issue will not subside; and that the consequences of being on the wrong side of the voting public are far more lasting than being on the wrong side of Pelosi & Rahm.

(2) They talk. The delegations, I mean. The reps are quite likely to remark to their Senate colleagues that they are still receiving a ton of angry correspondences from the constituents. This will have an impact, trust me. And they talk all the time.

(3) The House bill cannot pass the Senate. If some form of it does pass, it'll be referred to a conference committee, who will send it back to both chambers for an up or down vote. So if the insanity continues, the House will again see this heinous legislation.

So keep up the drumbeat. As the Presidents numbers fall, he loses arm-twisting ability. Your ability to influence the debate becomes greater.

In some ways I hope this monstrosity passes crushes our economy and hits every home with increases in energy costs. Republicans could clean out Congress and the White House with a platform of immediately repealing this mess.
