If the female soldier was the one slashed across the face, I suspect the assailants are of Arab/Asian decent.

In the autobiography of Errol Flynn, he describes being recruited into a teenage gang in Australia whose modus operandi was to slash the faces of their opponents with a razor blade embedded in a cork. Since Flynn was born in 1909, apparently this kind of thing has been going on in Australia for well over 80 years.

I’m delighted that you’ve recounted for us one of the achievements of Gen William Slim and his brave — but largely forgotten — men from the Southeast Asia theater.

IMO Gen William Slim is perhaps the most under-rated heroes of the Second World War, and the men who followed him accomplished feats-of-arms that, under the circumstances, were almost unbelievable.

There are entire books and movies that have yet to be made, and stories yet to be discovered, about these amazing heroes. It is a wonder Hollywood hasn’t worked over this ground long before now.

The female Sailor was my daughter! And though I am still a bit worried she did manage to send me the following email..

“Mom
If you have been on facebook and seen any pictures of my face, stop crying, I’m ok. A group of my friends and me were out in Australia and got in a bit of an altercation with the Aboriginal locals. I’m just fine I just got kicked around a bit, but nothing I couldn’t handle, it was an active decision to stay out of going to mast that I stopped defending myself. If you want details it was in the Australian news and If you want to know the details, just ask, but know that I’m ok. It didn’t even really hurt at all. I love you, and please write me, because I miss you.

….. Mind you my daughter is ¼ Moari, 1/4 Brit, and 1/2 good old fashion (Hienz 57) Born American.
I taught her well and am sure that she and her crew mates WERE out for a night of doing what sailors do, drinking and having fun.….until 1am when someone’s undisciplined children decided to ???rob, ??? fight, with plain clothed visitors trying to enjoy being somewhere new.

No one should have to go through that, no mater where they come from or what color their skin is, or what religion they choose to follow…..
I say shame on the people who raised those hooligan kids!!!
