When Sarah practices, she is not incoherent. She blew the roof off the convention with her speech and did extremely well against Joe Biden in the VP debate.

Dear Sarah, why don’t you practice?

Wrong, had she stayed governor she would have been too busy fighting ethics charges to investigate running for president. By resigning she started up her national political career. She will be the force to deal with in the GOP.

She can now go around and raise money for GOP candidates all over the country. Look for her at fund raiser near you soon.

Palin just resigned her first term, on a Friday afternoon before a long holiday weekend

Something doesn't smell right, and she is most definitely toast.

Ed Morrissey, make a hard copy of this and set it aside, you’ll be eating it in the not too distant future.

I think Reagan had a little job here or there after his Governors job.

Cannot imagine having to take the beating she and her family haven taken by the media. I can only imagine that had a role to play in this

The Democrats had virtually besieged her in Alaska rather than let her build up a record there, and her enemies in the Republican Party are numerous. She is trying to outflank them. I think the article in “Runner;s world,” is spot on. She intends to take on Obama himself, as she will knows that she and he are starting from the same place. The only questions are whether she will be able to attract the same money that he did, or whether she needs to, because there is also the example of Reagan, or more recently Huckabee. Find a way to talk over the heads of the media —and the party autocrats. I know one thing. We are in a new political landscape, and acting as a freebooter Palin—if she wants—can make a difference.

"I’ve seen a myriad of excuses on Twitter and e-mail.. None of those make any sense"

I don’t know if this is the reason or not but it makes sense: Could be because you suck.

I can't pretend to understand why Sarah Palin took this step at this time. But, I will say that its important to recognize that she is young and has many options going forward.

While I like her message, I am less impressed with the messenger. She is in many ways like Obamalongadingdong: great appeal without the underlying experience and credentials. She is a great neuewine, but time will tell if the vintage will be great. Her great advantage is that she has time to age, to mellow, to become wise in the ways of this cutthroat world. I, for one, am willing to wait. I would much rather support a Sarah Palin who has reached the full essence of her vintage. Today, she is good with a little Zwieblekuchen (onion cake), but is best left to mature.

Time will tell if she is Presidential timber, in the meantime she can work wonders in the fundraising arena for those of her ilk who will be essential to build a conservative comeback.

HAppily, the answer is..no!

I listened to her entire announcement. It was honorable, it was direct, and it punctuated the insane politics of our day...it also punctuated her personal commitment to fight, and to do so when it would not distract further from her job as Governor and the foundation she has built there.

I am proud of her and support her. She is a great American.

I think Sarah has just turned, like a fed-up mama Bear, on her detractors. She has put things in order, she has left them in the hands of capable people, and she has now turned to face her enemies directly.

...and I think they are going to be sorry. We have smelled the fear in them for a long time. Good on her!

I believe she will assist others greatly in 2010, and will run herself in 2012...and she has my full support.

GO SARAH GO!

This is such nonsense. She is going to travel around the country like Nixon in ‘66 and Reagan in ‘78 and help conservatives win. Then she’ll have lots of political chits to cash in on and loyal followers who she helped.

I ask this: can Crist survive if she endorses and campaigns for Rubio?? Does Cornyns endorsement even matter at that point? Can Reid survive if she campaigns in Nevada against him? Can McCain? How big a crowd can she draw for Pat Toomey? Can she help to defeat Dodd and Lincoln?

I think something big has just been unleashed!

Ed Morrissey needs to step away from the Kool-Aid pitcher.

A cold shower and a pot of black coffee should sober him up.

I love all these instant experts.

Folks, Sarah will take care of herself. Rumors of her demise may or may not be greatly exagerrated.

What we need to do is focus on Hussein’s America Destroying Agenda.

He may be right. Sarah’s old political career is over. Can’t wait to see what the new career brings.

I can't help but be reminded of this exchange, early in the Obama pre-campaign campaign.

“My dad told me that you've got to strike while the iron is hot,” Reverend Alvin Love recalls saying, and Obama replied, “The iron can't get any hotter."

Back when Hillary Clinton was The Next In Line, aka The Inevitible One, there was one man who read the terrain correctly, and realized that he could beat The Unbeatable.

Fellas, there's nothing in Palin's background like the Reverend Wright. Everyone who took one look at Barack Obama and laughed him off as a political lightweight with crippling negatives was wrong. Obama ignored the establishment in the media and in the Democratic party, who were all nice but largely dismissive of him early on.

Palin's the only politician we have right now with the same level of natural talent and connection to the average voter that Obama has. If she's mobilizing now, it's because she sees a path to victory, and is taking it. We can laugh at her and dismiss her as flaky and unready, just as the Democrats initially dismissed Obama as an untested rookie. Or we can wait and see if she's actually up to something worth getting on board with.

She's either dumber than we thought, or a lot smarter than we are. Sometimes, vanity gets in the way of making that assessment clearly. It certainly did in our assessment of Obama.
