I don’t think this has much to do with a POTUS run in 2012. I think it’s about energy - oil & natural gas.

Being a governor of a state gave her credibility. A second term would have solidified that. Giving it up after 3 years is foolish in my opinion. She will still have a platform and she’ll be able to travel the lower 48, but quitting the governorship will confirm most peoples’ doubts that she is too inexperienced to run for president.

I love Sarah but you can’t quit in the middle of a term when the job you want is 3.5 years away.

I don’t think she will run in 12.

Then you didn't watch the press conference.

Nothing, and I mean nothing that she said in that press conference could be construed that she is walking away from that fight. Quite the contrary, she was stating that she was going to continue the fight, not sit down and shut up.

Listening to her speech on Fox, she is laying the groundwork for higher office. I think it is a mistake, if higher office is what she wants.

Doesn’t work for me.

“Once I decided not to run for re-election, I also felt that to embrace the conventional ‘Lame Duck’ status in this particular climate would just be another dose of ‘politics as usual,’ something I campaigned against and will always oppose. It is my duty to always protect our great state. With that in mind, my family and I determined that it is best to make a difference this summer, and I am willing to change things, so that this administration, with its positive agenda, its accomplishments, and its successful road to an incredible future, can continue without interruption and with great administrative and legislative success.”

Hillary has more resilience than this unfortunately.

That is because she doesn’t have to spend her own money to defend herself whereas Sarah has had to put up her own money. Plus Hitlar has lived in very Pro-Dummycrat areas (Little Rock, Washington, & New York) the ethics charges never seem to make it past stage one for her now if Sarah was to sneeze on live tv and ask for a Kleenex some little toad would file an ethics violation for her endorsing a product as a Governor. I hate where our country is going.

Saying “I’m quitting my term because I don’t want to be a politics-as-usual lame duck??”

I think she’s getting out with her good accomplishments to ride on into whatever is next. The lame duck consideration is important if she doesn’t wish to look powerless if and when she pursues higher office. Keeping the lefties guessing instead of on the offensive against her may be a good move.

At least she didn’t say her house was for sale and she & the family was moving to New Zealand....

Local response is mixed.

I think it is a brilliant move. She can now say what she thinks without worrying about the bogus petty left filing some nefarious and bogus ethics complaint. I mean give me a break.. filing a complaint because she wore a coat with a logo on it? These attacks (ALL dismissed) were costing the state enormous sums of money and time.

Bad move. IF she wants to run for president, she should finish her term ending in 2010, and decide not to run for re-election.

I don't like this at all.

So that means you won’t vote for her if she wins the nomination?

Why not just stay in office, do your job and stay under the radar.
