The city of San Francisco named an alley just off Second Street in honor of this man, the great work he did on the old "Streets" show. One of my favorite anecdotes, he would frequently refer to Det. Sekulovich in episodes, "Get me coffee ... locate this file ..." etc., this was Malden's birth surname. His list of credits is a mile long, a personal favorite is his performance in the film "Gypsy" -- one of the greats of Hollywood past. RIP, Mr. Malden.

My favorite Karl Malden character was when he played Omar Bradley in "Patton"

I liked him in “Pollyanna” and “Meteor”. Both fun movies.

He retired in the early 1990’s, except for one episode of the West Wing, playing a priest, in 2000.

The only celebrity to die in the last couple of weeks who lived a full life. From
Karl Malden's biography on imdb.com:
2008 marks the Maldens' 70th wedding anniversary making theirs the third longest marriage in Hollywood history surpassing the 69 years of Bob Hope and Dolores Hope (1934 until his death in 2003) and just behind Norman Lloyd and Peggy Lloyd, who were married in 1936. Art Linkletter and Lois Foerster hold the record with 73 years (1935).

To: Sunshine Sister
He was 97 years old. God bless him for living a full life. If I live to be 97 years old I will be very grateful. May he rest in peace

At least Brando was born in Omaha. This is getting creepy.

Both Brando and the other Method Acting pioneer, Montgomery Clift, were born in Omaha.

On December 18, 1938 Malden married Mona Greenberg, who survives him.
70 years of marriage is a lasting testament to the character of Mr. Malden.
