...”a “diplomatic attaché” in Paris for the Department of Education”...

How about just eliminating the whole Department?

Enough is enough. A trillion dollars here, a trillion there -- doesn’t this new Democratic Congress understand there is no “free money”?

Why should they when the Republican Congress before them didn't get the concept either?

Probably is but it probably does not matter the new world order has arrived with the funding thrown in the war bill for the IMF and people were not paying attention.

FairTax
http://www.fairtax.org

The FairTax abolishes all Income and payroll taxes, capital gains, etc, It replaces the entire federal tax code.

The rate for the FairTax National retail Sales Tax NRST will be voted by Congress every year. It is now set to be initiated at 23% of all RETAIL purchases.

Cut spending and pressure Congress each year to lower the NRST as a result. When you combine a simple number such as national rate with a campaign to cut spending, then you have the means to cut real spending because cutting spending does not mean less government spending. It can mean cutting one program to fund another or cutting the planned increase of a program.

But cutting the NRST every year in Congress means REAL SPENDING CUTS.

Totally agree with you. I haven't seen evidence that any different people have a problem with what the feds are doing than before the election. The drones who elected Milhouse and the RAT Congress show no sign of distress because for them, government exists to do things, and regulating salaries, running banks and car companies is exactly what they think it should be doing.

That doesn't mean they like everything that's going on, but what they don't like, they continue to blame on Bush, Cheney and the Republicans. I've been saying for a while now that when gas prices go back over $4, Milhouse is going to talk tough against Big Oil, and Boobus America will line up in the rain to sing his praises, overjoyed that he's doing something as opposed to the horrible Bush and Cheney who did nothing so their Big Oil buddies could get richer.

The first step to fixing this mess is to stop the delusion that the epiphany about Milhouse and the RATS is just around the corner. It ain't. The same hard work it took for Ronald Reagan and the other conservatives to educate people about the evils of big government and the evils of communism is required here.

Was it not the much maligned Bill Clinton who last managed to balance the budget, albeit only for one or two years?

Clinton was under a lot of pressure to have pro growth economic policies and to be fiscally responsible. For some odd reason, W and other Republicans were under no such pressure.

And when the public already knows that GOP politicians will fold like a cheap suit at the first hint of MSM disapproval.

W Bush was under pressure to balance the books, but he was under even more to secure the country after 9/11. And that, of course, costs.

I remember W's early SOTU speeches when he bragged about how much he was spending, citing actual dollar amounts, and none of it was related to 9/11.

And then there was W's complete abandonment of the technology sector and economic growth policies. The only growth policy he had was for the government.
