If you made it up yourself and tried to pass it off first as fact and then as a rumor which implies something not verifiable but being discussed in the media as rumor, then that would be despicable and destroy what little credibility you might have.

Jake Knotts, another Sanford critic within the party ranks, called up Reggie Lloyd himself this past Saturday, loaded for bear regarding a rumor that the governor was away “again,” and he essentially trapped Lloyd into making statements that sounded as if he were concerned about “succession.”
The thing no one outside the region realizes, is that the level of acrimony over Sandford’s rejection of federal stimulus money has been extremely high, even between Republicans in SC. There have been efforts to tie Sanford down, to tightly control him, spinning directly off of his refusal to accept the funds.
This ties directly to the wild tale of the disappearing governor. It’s all about Porkulus and control.

In a story that has taken more twists and turns than the trail his staff claims he has been hiking on, the SLED-owned vehicle he was supposed to have taken has been discovered in a Columbia Airport parking lot. CNN is reporting that the SUV is outfitted with blue police lights and two-way radio. Inside the vehicle is a baseball cap, running shoes, sunscreen, a pair of shorts, a canvas bag and a sleeping bag. A parking permit for the school attended by Sanford’s children is visible on the windshield.

Sanford’s staff has announced that they are going to make photos of Sanford’s passport available which doesn’t make sense to me, unless reporters are asking questions involving foreign travel.
Maybe they just want to prove he is a Natural Born Citizen. LOL
