She did. She was misquoted. This was a setup as it was known where he was. A Rino started the rumors. He isn’t a friend of Sanford.
The time lost would be in a Governor disappearing and being unreachable, it would take time to establish the chain of command. At this point the claim is that no arrangements had been made and that in an emergency the rest of the leadership would have had to piece together what was going on and at some point determine that the Governor was out of the loop and unavailable, that takes time and weakens a response.
The policy is well established through centuries of real use. The chain of command is always established.
Or are you saying that California's first responders couldn't handle a mudslide, fire, or earthquake without contacting Ahrnohld first?

You don’t seem to understand that the claim isn’t that he was taking time off in a formal manner but instead that it would have taken time to establish that he was gone, out of touch, disappeared.
You bought the MSM spin.
That's why even the US government (incompetent as it is) has a Presidential succession law.
Fortunately in this case, the media reports seem to be false. And the state in question is doing ok. Go figure.

The A.T. primarily runs either in National Parks or National Forest. Meaning he could also have access to their radio service if prior arrangements are made I'm guessing. There are several ways he can be alone, reachable, and still away from it all hiking the on A.T. and still maintain communication accessibility in an emergency. Then there is an established protocol if he isn't available.
I don't follow the mans politics but I do know about these mountains and the abilities and capabilities to communicate if needed. One thing is Park Rangers go back country and talk to each other all the time on radio's in the VHF band. Another one is the communications towers are generally placed on high ridges and mountains. The Appalachians are generally more developed in both government and private/business communication grids than western mountains. The trail except in a few places follows the crest of the mountains.
With a small bit of planning communications is not an issue. I posted earlier of a kid about 12 years old using his hand operated HAM radio to contact help. This was with high mountains all around him and he was at the base of a water fall.
Governors don’t disappear, and your childish game grows tiresome.
That is why the question is was he or was he not off grid, was this just a vacation or was it a weird act?
As I mentioned before I find it hard to believe that he didn’t take a satellite phone or make arrangements of some sort, that is why I waited for so many hours to ask that question I don’t know why it is taking so long for him to get his story out.
No they don’t. And neither did this one.
That is what I’m trying to figure out, I thought that after a few hours the story would fix itself but it is still a muddled mess at this point.

In SC, the gov. does not get that much protection. He can be seen around his house, I've been told.
Several years ago, Sanford, an avid cyclist, hosted a 60 mile ride from Aiken-Columbia. I had the pleasure to survive the ride and I'm sure he passed me, though I did not recognize him. He is a few years younger and in better shape than I. A couple of his sons also completed the bike trip. After the trip, he hosted a lunch for the several hundred cyclists and graciously posed for photographs with individual participants.
There were, unfortunately, two minor accidents (collisions between cyclists) and I think that may have been the reason it was discontinued.
I recall one time when Mark was our Congressman, my wife had written a letter in opposition to one of his positions. She handed me the phone one evening and said "talk to this guy" about some of the issues we shared concerns, mainly technology transfer the Clintons approved to the Chinese. I talked a good 10 minutes until I figured out it was Mark. He, as a Congressman, did not have to call a constituent, but he did. He was calling my wife to explain why he voted the way he did. I also recall the time Mark Sanford came to the door of our house requesting our support when he first ran for congress.
Mark is a high energy guy, usually right on the issues and has been an outstanding Governor.
2012 is gonna be a nightmare.

The Governor’s wife doesn’t know how to reach him or where he is exactly only that she isn’t worried because he is camping.
In the southeast a man taking off for several days to go, hunting, fishing, or hiking, isn't called a weird act. It's called getting away for a few days and is as common as a cookout. State lawmakers do it, police chiefs, Sheriffs, Mayors, even rescue squad workers, and key members of the State National Guards.
By the account I read this is a regular thing for him meaning it was not out of character. My guess is those who knew where he was simply let the one who raised the question make an a double s out of himself doing so.
Everyone should take time out and get away from things for a while. It is good for the body and soul. Even the Man with the fate of mankind weighing on his shoulders did as much 2000 years ago.
All that is fine and like I keep saying he must have had some sort of communication connection to his office, but after the hours passed he hasn’t made clear if that is actually true, his wife wasn’t aware of it, his staff seems unaware of it, the media still haven’t learned of it.
This story needs to be laid to rest by him.
