Just be glad that it didn’t happen in a raised section of track. Between these two stations the trains are sometimes elevated about 20 feet, with no “shoulder”, just empty space outside the window.

I’ve ridden that line many times through those two stations. The DC Metro is usually very safe, but I guess accidents can always happen. Prayers to those involved.
