Given the “accuracy” of North Korean missiles it could impact anywhere.

...and therein lies the rub. Their last TD-2 did pretty well, much better than its predecessor. Suppose NK fires to the side of HI. That is, same range, just slightly to the left or right. They just want to see if all the TD-2's system work right, can carry a meaningful payload weight that far, etc.

Only lets say during one of the staging events it doesn't separate cleanly. Now it is on course to hit HI, not just drop near it. As you say, given the reliability of TD-2s, we had better be ready to defend our citizens from NK's engineering mistakes.

Of course, it could be shot directly at HI all along - the intent being to push obama and test his limits. The NK's could simply claim a malfunction had put it on course for HI...

I don’t think you had anything like this going on when Bush was in office. N. Korea would not been this blatant.

Think again.

I think you first watch what your enemy is up too. Once yo’re sure you act.

And Bush sure acted:

10 Oct 2008: North Korea bars inspectors from the Yongbyon nuclear reactor site, threatens to resume production of weapons-grade plutonium and began preparations for another nuclear test.

11 Oct 2008: Bush directs that North Korea be dropped from the U.S. list of terrorist-sponsoring nations.

Appeasement. Neville would no doubt approve.

You were saying ,,,?

What should the US response be to an act of war??

I know what it should be.

I fear what it will be.

Don't kid yourself, the reason North Korea is moving forward with it's nuclear weapons programs and missile testing is BECAUSE of Bush and his failure to take effective action when he had the opportunity.

Hello!!!

This has escalated since obama has been in office and HE hasn't taken effective action and he's had plenty of opportunities.

Mom, GWB knew full well what was going on with North Korea from the first day of his term(s) in office.

0bama has been on the job for not quite six months.

BOTH are equally guilty of having screwed up, and we do ourselves no service by pretending that 0bama’s predecessor was successful in dealing with the North Korean threat.

He failed that test, ditto for Iran.

Sorry, sometimes the truth hurts.

I hope and pray that Obama will find his sanity and defend this country.

Right at 0bama’s birth certificate? That’s okay, I’m sure the hospital in Kenya where he was born has the original.

I don’t think Bush would sit idly by while N. Korea lobs missiles our way if our intelligence has confirmed that they have nuclear weapons. I think our intelligence may also knowsomething we don’t.

Regarding Iran, I don’t think Bush would sit idly by and not show some support for the people demonstrating.

Yep, I am already expecting them to aim their first and only missile at San Fransisco and wipe out Fresno instead.
