Ya Think?
Do we still have what it takes to stand up to FASCISM?
I’m always so glad when Fox and Friends is over. I especially can’t stand the weekend crew....Clayton something is horrible. Luckily for me, out here on the West Coast, I don’t have to watch much of them. :)
And with good reason, unfortunately.
Since the '60s, the media have shown fiction which has made the avant garde appear to be normal. People act often as they think other people are acting, and the media have controlled what the 'norm' is through fictionalized accounts of abnormal behaviour presented as normal, through atypical lifestyles presented as typical (or at least much more common than they are), through portrayals of violence and crudity far beyond what is ordinarily acceptable, even morphing the sense of what is "funny" with laugh tracks in sitcoms. (Yes, it has been shown that people will laugh when others are laughing, even though they do not know what is "funny". Coughing and yawning are similarly 'contagious' in a crowd.).
By playing off the 'herd instinct' in the human population, the media have successfully distorted what people consider "good", "normal", and "acceptable" behaviour over the past four decades, have altered what is commonly considered humorous, and have changed the behaviour of our society.
Those who resist such are protrayed (when portrayed at all) as (depending on their reasons) anywhere from the lunatic fringe to hopelessly 'out of touch' with modern society.
People unthinkingly have watched years of crap and then rushed out to buy the latest, new, improved, extra-strength, lemon-scented, sponsor product in the smaller package for just 'pennies more'.
Why wouldn't the media think they control the country?
Back in the day, it was oft noted Billy Graham Crusade attendance was as much or more than a typical sporting event and yet news coverage was virtually non existent.
This has been the way of things for many moons.
Best regards,
Already endorsed by the current DOJ.
“They made it sound like Ahmadinejad was being accepted by most of the Iranians and that the protests were limited to
a few youths turning over garbage cans.”
The regime got their rent-a-crowd out today to show support for him. That’s the picture being used in the media.
Yeah, I’m coming up blank on that one too.
Thankfully we have alternatives to the state-run media in the United States. At least for now.
Unfortunately, many Americans only know what they know about world news by what they see/hear from the state-run media.
CNN will notice and report on the following:
One Republican trashing another Republican
Five Gay Men Protesting anything
Six Members of NOW complaining about any conservative
Eight Blacks angry with cops
Thirty Union Members picketing a company
Here’s the groups that “don’t make the CNN cut”:
1,000 democrats criticizing one corrupt democrat
400,000 tea party protesters
A million Iranians bravely standing up to their oppressors.
You left off a couple.
They also report;
Any negative story they can find about Sarah Palin
Any story that advances the cause for gay marriage & abortions.
Obama’s trip to the movies, buying a dog etc.
This also doesn’t make the CNN cut;
Any negative news story involving the Obama Administration.
Any story that does not favor liberals or liberalism.
You’ve made my point. Now is the time for Americans to wake-up. Thanks for the reply. :)
Thanks - you're right on this - which makes CNN ignoring it even worse...
We are moving to the point(if we haven’t reached the point) in which Al Jazeera is a more trustworthy source than CNN/MSNBC.
I wonder if anyone in the 1960s and 1970s would believe that 40 years later that on certain stories Radio Moscow would be a more reliable news source than ABC Radio News; or that like the former Soviet Union a majority of the people in the USA would get their news from what is in essence state run media.
We are familair with leads/headlines like
“.. Iran’s state news agency IRNA reported Ahmadinejad the winner’
or “The official Chinese Xinhua News Agency reports that ....
isn’t this just as accurate lead/headline
The Official US Government news agency AP reported Obama’s economic policies saving millions of jobs
“If a revolution is happening in the streets of Iran and nobody in the mainstream media bothers to report it, is it really happening?”
Exactly
“....without the msm, we are doomed.....???”
What are you talking about?
Thanks for the ping. I hope to touch on this tonight.
Ladies and gentlemen,If only we could be part of something that looked like this on 9/12 in Washington for the National Tea Party ! That would be Change I can Believe in !
Nice additions. Thanks.
I know ... Michael Totten has updates ... also PJM ... I fear it’ll end like Tiananmen Square ... Venezuelans now in Tehran for riot control?
