i dont understand, how you could carry $130 billion bond. Aren’t bonds like piece of paper that tells you have much they’re worth. Kinda like shares. They’re worthless on its on

Out of my depths. But, it will be interesting to see how this plays out.
Whose money is it?
Who ratted them out?
Who gets to keep the confiscated money?
Anybody out there who can clue in the clueless?

That sounds like counterfeit bonds being shopped around for sale. The only people that could own that amount of bonds would be a government and they have diplomatic cover so who are these Japanese and where did the bonds come from?

When I first heard this news, I paused, as is my habit, and thought, that’s a ton of scrabble points.
That is lots of loot folks. Lots of loot.
Well, lets face it, this is gona be one hell-of-a-caper-figure-outer. This is a job for Inspector Jacques Clouseau.
Sorry. ‘Chief’ Inspector Jacques Clouseau.

Any government could have easily walked them across the border in a diplomatic pouch. No need to sneak. This is private money and I think either the amount is way wrong or someone has just been caught looting a hedge fund. Nobody else has that kind of liquidity (except maybe a gulf state emirate). In any event, it will be a rather short list of suspects...

$134b paid off to AsianX to purchase less than 134b worth of 30 year notes being auctioned now so that it isn’t obvious to the masses that the bottom has fallen out of Treasuries before the people in the know can pull their $ out before the bloodbath.

Fake story. The US government does not issue paper bonds anymore and never issued them in amounts of $500 million. Someone tried to pass some of these off to one of our broker dealer customers. We researched and they are definately fake. I will see if I can find the links that we used at work, but there is no way someone can have a $500 million bearer treasury note, anything that big is book entry.

Very surprised we found out about it. Something this big should have been hushed up by the powers that be. The people catching these two should have been ‘disappeared’.

They had better spend that 134 bil fast. Pretty soon, it will barely buy a loaf of bread and a jar of Jif at Walmart. But it will still make good kindling.
