I made a mistake in the reply, I should have said that even during the boom there were plenty of rentals available in the $450-$650 range, not that the mode of the rentals was just over $600. Sorry for the confusion.

I lived in California for 34 years, since the age of 8, as did my husband. However, that didn't stop us from leaving the "Land of Milk & Honey" for saner pastures 13 years ago. We left our parents and siblings behind, and we survived. It CAN be done.
The only thing I miss about Cali is the ocean.

Apparently the insurance-paid “treatment” isn’t working — better try some “push-aways.”

Since the article stated “her family moved in” am I to assume she has a husband? If so , does he sit on his a@@ or does he bring in any money? Regardless of the abortion crowd, it does take a man to start the birth process.

Back in 1982 I was awarded custody of my niece; as she was considered “a family of one” even though I had group insurance coverage she was issued a booklet of Medi-Cal stamps.
She what is commonly called “lazy-eye syndrome” and the doctors decided she needed corrective surgery.
When my wife admitted her for surgery at the hospital she handed over a stamp — on the day of release and discharge the clerk said they had no record of having gotten a stamp.
My wife cheerily peeled off a new one and handed it over; she said that was the first she had ever felt like a millionaire.

That should save on taxi fares to get to the redlight district.

I agree with you. Some folks have no clue.

AMEN!
I am so tired of hearing of these sob stories from people who need to take control of their lifestyle and stop b$&ching. Life is tough for most people; but they shut up and keep going.
I am well past retirement age. I should be enjoying my remaining years with my wife on a beach. Instead, I keep working to pay for a lifetime of raising 9 kids.
My choice; I pay the price.

Don't say why don't you leave California. I won't say it. I've been told on this forum,"just leave", (Illinois). Life is not always so simple.
