I would normally agree. Trouble is that we're being told everyday what a fashion icon our First Lady is, as if we were blind. She about to be named third most glamorous by Glamour magazine. A recent British newspaper called her a “First lady of Fashion.” NEVER was Laura Bush or Condi jammed down our throats as fashionistas.

Carla is a fashion professional. She looks good in everything, but has developed her own personal style over the years, and knows what looks best on her, and what is appropriate for role as First Lady .
MOBama is obviously not up to playing in the big leagues. She will never be able to compete with the great beauties of this world like Carla and Letizia of Spain or Caroline of Monaco. The most important thing is to be yourself. She should stop trying to be trendy, and get herself a fashion consultant who understands her role.
And for the love of Pete, stop wearing those darned boob belts!
FWIW silver or gold shoes can be classy worn by the right person. A simple black or white dress or cocktail dress, jazzed up with glitzy shoes can look terrific. But fashion whimsy is not for everyone. If you are 6 feet tall and weigh 200, and have shoulders like a linebacker for the Green Bay Packeras, I would advise skipping that look.
Hopefully, this discussion will be moot in four years.
