I wish more people understood how racist Mexico really is. You nailed it- the Spanish are the elite, they have all the money, they make all the rules. It has been like that for hundreds of years and the only way it could ever change is by force, revolution, war. They see anyone of Indian heritage- mixed race mestizo whether they are natives to Mexico or are from countries south of Mexico as totally inferior people. They have no thoughts of compassion for these people at all, they do not want them to get ahead, they do not want their money to support them in any way- they want them gone and have been more than happy that they could come to the U.S. in droves.
People wonder why Mexico is a third world country when they have abundant natural resources- the answer is their class system and racism. Yes it is corruption, but the corruption stems from classism and racism. If Mexico took advantage of their natural resources, developed their country they would create a middle class- which would elevate their underclass and that is not acceptable to them. As it is now the elite can live in their mansions, drive their fancy cars- have the best life has to offer and they are not elevating the underclass.
In Mexico there is no way to move up in society- the upper class will not accept the underclass. The system does not allow for one to rise by hard work,and if an elite marries below their class they are disowned, the person they marry is not elevated. The only way to go from poverty in Mexico to money is to engage in illegal activities like human and drug trafficing. Many elites also engage in illegal activities but the classes still are never equal. The lower class with money can live better but are still considered lower class and not accepted by the elite.

We beat Ricardo and Pedro Rodrigues in the Guadalahara State Fair road racd and were in Mexico City with thwm to sell our car to them.
One of their cousins was getting married to a mexican and not one member of the family went to the wedding and rhe cousin was disowned and never to be spoken to again.
He gave up the cushie life of a millionaire and became a mexican with nothing.
