Representatives and direct Taxes shall be apportioned among the several States which may be included within this Union, according to their respective Numbers, which shall be determined by adding to the whole Number of free Persons, including those bound to Service for a Term of Years, and excluding Indians not taxed, three fifths of all other Persons.
hmmm... well in case you hadnt noticed, the indians not taxed (ie, non-citizens) were fully excluded. Illegals would fall under the same regulations as visiting foreigners: NOT a part of the census.
And if illegal aliens are not taxed, is there a way illegals can get a refund on sales and property taxes?
Tell you what Jose-B, we'll count your Guacamolean ass as we toss it off the bus back in Me-hee-co. That's the only way you'll get legal... GO HOME!
That is not what the Framers of the Constitution wanted us to do. They wanted us to count all people.
I don’t think so. As I see it, the census is all about Congressional representation. That representation is for US citizens.
Well then why is it that the Framers did not use the word “citizens” and instead used the word “people?”
Article I, Sec. 3,
Representatives and direct taxes shall be apportioned among the several states which may be included within this union, according to their respective numbers, which shall be determined by adding to the whole number of free persons, including those bound to service for a term of years, and excluding Indians not taxed, three fifths of all other Persons. The actual Enumeration shall be made within three years after the first meeting of the Congress of the United States, and within every subsequent term of ten years, in such manner as they shall by law direct. The number of Representatives shall not exceed one for every thirty thousand, but each state shall have at least one Representative; and until such enumeration shall be made, the state of New Hampshire shall be entitled to chuse three, Massachusetts eight, Rhode Island and Providence Plantations one, Connecticut five, New York six, New Jersey four, Pennsylvania eight, Delaware one, Maryland six, Virginia ten, North Carolina five, South Carolina five, and Georgia three.
Because they did not fathom the modern idea of illegal aliens.
You’ll note the specific exclusion of non-taxed Indians. Illegals without a tax ID are in a similar category. End of story.
Illegals without a tax ID are in a similar category.
You mean Illegals don’t pay taxes to the IRS and file claims and have a SS ID?
Interesting view and coincidentally, the same view as Anti Second Amendment activists who say:
"The Framers did not fathom the modern weapons that are available today, so therefore, we can ban modern firearms..."
Could you please cite the legislation or the court case that dictates that illegal aliens are "indians, not taxed?"
Wow....How do I sign up for that?
