That's right keep the bureaucrats and keep paying the retired city workers the exorbitant pensions you passed a few years ago. You know, “You can pay me now, or you can pay me later.” Guess what Columbus, It's later.

The police chief only gets the money budgeted.

Columbus-area conservatives ought to figure out job cuts as a percentage of workforce for different areas. Looks like they are giving the police budget a 20 percent haircut if the tax measure does not pass. Wonder what other department heads are saying? If they are only talking single-digit cuts, that should be pointed out.

We REALLY need to start having freepers work on analysis of state and local government employement and track the nature of the layoffs - and show how politicians are playing with public safety to protect the fat and patronage. The ONLY way to fix this is to make this nonsense boomerang right back in their faces.

Thanks. I figured someone would find the Toledo story and post it.

It will be interesting to see how Columbus handles this. Toledo has a higher percentage of regular folks, while Columbus has a larger higher education/government percent of population.

Notice however, no other hand out programs being threatened for deep cuts in Columbus?

This is status quo around the country now as the DimLibtards are throwing hissy fissy, pee-peeing, eye bulging, snot snorting, vein popping, gas passing, foot stomping, temper tantrums that the working class will not accept further tax increases.

So naturally, the kids, the elderly, education, and public safety have to go on the alter first. Still, no mention whatsoever to offer up free money handouts to illegals have shown up on the table???

"Current polls show 70-80% against the tax increases."

CA Props. 1A-1E redux. Here, they used the same scare tactics, like "50,000 prisoners to be released". Tax increases went down by nearly a 2-1 margin...

You're right. Threatening essential services at the expense of the handouts is standard operating procedure.

The People just have to go eyeball to eyeball with them.

Snippet of Obama’s speach at the Columbus Police Academy Graduation:

Now, there were those — there were those who argued that our recovery plan was unwise and unnecessary. They opposed the necessary notion that government has a role in ending the cycle of job loss at the heart of this recession. There are those who believe that all we can do is repeat the very same policies that led us here in the first place.

(APPLAUSE)

So for those who still doubt the wisdom of our recovery plan, I ask them to talk to the teachers who are still able to teach our children because we passed this plan. I ask them to talk to the nurses who are still able to care for our sick and the firefighters and first responders who are still able to keep our communities safe. I ask them to come to Ohio and meet the 25 men and women who will soon be protecting the streets of Columbus because we passed this plan.

(APPLAUSE)

I look at these young men and women — I look into their eyes and I see their badges today, and I know that we did the right thing. These jobs and the jobs of so many other police officers and teachers and firefighters all across Ohio will now be saved because of this recovery plan; a plan that will also create jobs in every corner of this state.

"Main problem is the tax burden in Ohio. State, county, municipal taxes chase individuals and businesses out of the state. Statists just don't understand that higher tax rates ultimately result in lower revenues."

We are a prime example of that. 22 years ago I spent a full 5 days per quarter filling out paperwork for state, local, and feds. We were being taxed to death! The final straw was when I filled out the fed unemployment form for Ohio, it said take your number and multiply by 2.

What??????

My accountant said Ohio had borrowed money from the feds to pay for unemployment, and hadn't paid it back, so I got to. We moved, and haven't visited more than half a dozen times (to see family) since.

Lock and load, Columbus.

Since I fear the cops far more than any other person walking down the street, this is a good thing.

The best time I ever had in Toledo was when the whole police force went on strike around 1980. It was a blast not having the "domestic terrorists" of the local police force to worry about for a few days, and nobody got hurt as I recall.

Recently I was charged with a DUI after blowing a zero on a breathalyzer. I found out later that the cops get a cut on the towing fees from the towing companies. All they have to do is claim that you were otherwise "high" on something, and they pocket $50 for filling out a little paperwork.

Talk about making somebody cynical, that will do it.

I fear the cops a lot more than any drunk driver, at least I have a chance of swerving out of the way from the drunks.

The children will suffer and the sky is falling and we’re all gonna die.
