My son and daughter attended UCSC in the period 2000-2007. They hated the cafeteria food except for the prepared sandwiches they could eat on the run.

Seeing UC Santa Cruz responding this way to the coming cuts makes me somewhat optimistic that the correction of the nonsense in Kalifornia has indeed begun.

If I didn’t have my 33 acre paradise in the Santa Cruz mountains, I would have left SC long ago.

They attended Cowell and Porter. My wife and I ate at their cafeterias maybe twice each, and my recollection is that those were a good way to lose weight. Our son nixed Kresge on our first pre-application visit in 1999, on the grounds that the food offered in its on-campus store looked like it had been grown underneath the dorms.

OTOH, we loved to eat at Hoffman's downtown. I always bought a dozen scones there to take home when we visited. Santa Cruz is a good town for eating out.
