It's the voters' fault Ah-node and the Cal state legislature won't cut spending, keep enlarging the welfare system, provide endless benefits for illegal aliens, and keep caving into civil service unions.

The Lefties are having a meltdown. Maybe it’s time to retire a few of them.

“California voters exercise their power — and that’s the problem”

Two points on this one statement.

1. It was their right to create that problem, thats the point of a government of the people.

2. It is their responsibility to take care of that problem, thats the point of a government of the people.

"Californians are well known for periodic voter revolts, but on Tuesday they did more than just lash out at Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and the Legislature over the state's fiscal debacle. By rejecting five budget measures, Californians also brought into stark relief the fact that they, too, share blame for the political dysfunction that has brought California to the brink of insolvency."

That's what this putz gets out of this vote? That we "share blame for the political dysfunction"? How in the hell can you extrapolate to such an extreme?

The point is, that we refused to accept your tired old hippie socialist spun rhetoric, for a change. We are sick of you bleeding-heart pricks in SF and Berkeley and Oakland and Los Angeles dictating to us how we need to subsidize your socialist programs and your inability to manage a budget.

Dude, get your bong cleaned. Haven't you learned anything about residue buildup?

Get ready for taxation without representation.

The Obamunists are going to force the hard working red state taxpayers to support the useless leftist entitlement greedy blue state leeches.

Thr red states had better make themselves as shiftless and sorry as the blues while there is still an America left to loot.

Either on or under the government gravy train.

Love it when a liberal scheme falls apart. Good job, California conservatives. This is the kind of revolution that needs to spread to every state.

Why should the people of California cooperate with their government when their governor threatens them with releasing criminals from prison and cutting police force if the people do not vote as he wants?

If the California government was serious about cutting waste in government they would immediately cut education, health, and welfare benefits to illegal aliens and their children. But, no...the politicians would prefer to release criminals from prison and cut the police force....damn them!

"Clogged freeways, the decline of public schools, an outdated water system ..."

I know people at the LA Water District. They have some of the biggest engineering projects on Earth. This person is bitter and having a tantum.

I draw two lessons from the voters repudiation of the elected class in California.

First, the referendum vote in California is a confirmation of the spirit which animated the tea parties across America. That spirit reflects a profound disillusionment with the fiscal governance of the country. It is a repudiation of excessive spending and it demonstrates that the people are not so foolish as to believe that unrestrained spending can continue without an ultimate reckoning in taxes. Hence, the left wing punditry which disparaged the tea parties as everything from racist to selfish and uninformed is simply wrong. Those who disregard the deeper meaning of the tea parties will find themselves on the same end of the political process where Arnold Schwarzenegger is now so isolated and repudiated.

Second, the referendum in California is the inevitable result of a class of politicians who exploited the producing class to pander for power to the nonproducing class. California has come to the breaking point in which the producing class is unwilling and unable to participate in a government that is so rigged against them. Again, these referenda in California are reflective of our national Commonwealth. Barak Obama and the Democrat party in charge of the national government are in the process of replicating the California experience across the entire nation. In other words, Obama is exploiting the producing class and pandering to the nonproducing class. The tea parties sense this and repudiated this. California has arrived at the breaking point prior in time to the nation as a whole because California has limits on its ability to create money. Despite the evidence of my own eyes as I witnessed the reception Obama received at Notre Dame, I nevertheless believe that the California/tea party mood of repudiation is growing, perhaps for now inchoate and subterranean in character, but liable to spring forth, perhaps on July 4, and visit real fear on to the Washington establishment.

>>>It’s the voters’ fault Ah-node and the Cal state legislature won’t cut spending,

To a degree that’s true. Ah-node as you put it did make a good try a couple of years ago with a series of proposals to reform the California spending and administrative systems. The dems and the public employee unions put big money into persuading the voters to reject every proposal the governor made. Had the voters then been mature enough to bite the bullet, who knows.

I give him credit for making more of an effort then any other recent governor made. Unfortunately with the drubbing he took Arnold the reformer totally quit the fight and went native. He made a speech with the line “I get the message”. Now he’ll take the full rap for the disaster and the people who cynically stymied him will skate. He did it to himself too, he shouldn’t have surrendered.

“Clogged freeways, the decline of public schools, an outdated water system and a battered economy are just a few of the challenges demanding action by state leaders. Instead, they are consumed by yet another budget crisis, one that voters worsened Tuesday.”

Something about the part that says “ that voters worsened Tuesday.” really gets under my skin.

I’ll bet they’re going to find a judge who’ll rule that the low turnout represents disenfrancaisment of those who were too lazy to go to the polls, and therefore the outcome of the election is null and void.

California has the highest income earners and highest tax rates. Why is this still an issue? Is it because they are drowning in illegals? Will no one talk about the elephant in the room?
