Conservatism has not changed. That's the beauty of it. It is consistent in adherence to this country's founding principles. The Republican Party has changed.
Sorry, Conservatism is a principle, not a party. Parties change and may or may not adopt different principles over time, but principles are principles and by definition do not change.
“We must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt. We must make our selection between economy and liberty or profusion and servitude. If we run into such debts as that we must be taxed in our meat in our drink, in our necessities and comforts, in our labors and in our amusements, for our callings and our creeds...our people.. must come to labor sixteen hours in the twenty-four, give earnings of fifteen of these to the government for their debts and daily expenses; and the sixteenth being insufficient to afford us bread, we must live.. We have not time to think, no means of calling the mis-managers to account, but be glad to obtain subsistence by hiring ourselves to rivet their chains on the necks of our fellow suffers. Our landholders, too...retaining indeed the title and stewardship of estates called theirs, but held really in trust for the treasury, must...be contented with penury, obscurity and exile.. private fortunes are destroyed by public as well as by private extravagance.
This is the tendency of all human governments. A departure from principle becomes a precedent for a second; that second for a third; and so on, till the bulk of society is reduced to mere automatons of misery, to have no sensibilities left but for sinning and suffering... And the fore horse of this frightful team is public debt. Taxation follows that, and in it’s train wretchedness and oppression.”
Thomas Jefferson on Taxation and Public Debt
FUBO!
Thanks Jim. I really wish that the people who talk about the need to move to the left would just go and become Democrats. Why do they feel the need to be Republican? They have ruined the Party. Why don’t they just leave?
Woo hoo!!
Just in:

Thank you very much, Brad’s Gramma!!
Despite my frustration with FR lately, I still care for you, Mr. Robinson and hope all is well. So I’d like to share something awesome I just discovered: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLbOBoa8vD8
I think anyone who doesn’t like that is a RINO. ;)
Thank you very much, Barnacle!!
Great points!!
Nuke ‘em if they can’t take a joke!
BRAVO!
Way to go Jim!
Is that anything like "Off with their heads!"??
:)
Yep, they have a right to be heard but not necessarily on this site. Conservatism doesn't change. When these guys say that what they mean is that the Republican party is changing, not conservatism. They may label themselves conservatives but they are really liberals in Republican clothing. Don't want to be labeled a troll on FR, then don't be one! Hang in there Jim, the real conservatives are still behind you and there are lots of young ones out there also.
This is just one more in the latest efforts to force conservatives to except communism as a way of life. I say to all those jerks, no thanks, I like being free.
Finally sent my first donation.
