From an old James Woolsey editorial.

Someday a two-state solution may become possible, but it is naive in the extreme to believe that this can occur while the centerpiece of the radical Islamic and Palestinian agendas is maximizing Jewish deaths. A durable compromise will be achievable only when we no longer, to borrow from Daniel Patrick Moynihan, "define deviancy down" for the Palestinians.

Today we cannot envision the 250,000 Jewish settlers who live outside Israel's pre-1967 borders being permitted to live at all, much less live free and unmolested, in a West-Bank-Gaza Palestinian state. But some 1.2 million Arabs, almost all Muslim, today live in Israel in peace among some five million Jews--about double the percentage of Jews now in the West Bank as a share of the Muslim population there. Israel's Arab citizens worship freely--one hears muezzins calling the faithful to prayer as one walks around Tel Aviv. They vote in free elections for their own representatives in a real legislature, the Knesset. They give every evidence that they prefer being Arab Israelis to living in the chaos and uncertainty of a West Bank after Israeli withdrawal.

A two-state solution can become a reality when the Palestinians are held to the same standards as Israelis--to the requirement that Jewish settlers in a West Bank-Gaza Palestinian state would be treated with the same decency that Israel treats its Arab citizens. Until then, three failures in 13 years should permit us to evaluate the wisdom of further concessions.

Thank you. Excellent quote. I have a tremendous respect to Jim Woolsey and posted some of his articles on occasion.

He is absolutely right. From my point of view - how can anybody NOT understand that he is right.

PM Netanyahu has not endorsed a separate “State.”

Oh PLEASE! The Pope is right....he has no intention of sugesting that Israel or Jerusalem should be divided

Well since the muzzies will except nothing less, exactly what is he proposing, since he is talking to Israel, not Palestine.

Israel still needs a homeland, just one country that will accept the Jews as brothers. So far, even now, Israel does not even have that. Many Jews in Russia and around the world are still saving their money so that they can go home to Israel, and In Israel there are Arabs trying to crowd them out, while there are still many, many Arab countries that they can go to where they can live with people of their own kind and religion.

PM Netanyahu has not endorsed a separate “State.”

Sure he has, but only as agreed to by Israel under Oslo and the Road Map, including Israels 14 reservations. He rejects a sovereign state, rather one with ...provisional borders and certain aspects of sovereignty, be fully demilitarized with no military forces, but only with police and internal security forces of limited scope and armaments, be without the authority to undertake defense alliances or military cooperation, and Israeli control over the entry and exit of all persons and cargo, as well as of its air space and electromagnetic spectrum. The sovereignty idea was a Bush/Rice creation that's never been accepted, though I doubt that will make any difference to this administration.

Israel isn’t a HOMELAND for JEWS??? LOL! You ARE kidding...right??? I, as a Catholic, might not be allowed to make Israel MY homeland, but I am SURE that my Jewish husband would be allowed to.

The Biblical borders of Israel (Genesis 15:18 and Numbers 34: 1-13):

Is it the position of the Catholic church that God's covenant with Israel has now expired or something?

no sovereignty = no State. We should all call it like it is. Israel can not allow the belligerant lethal Palestinians to have an army or many of the standard components of a State.

Yet another post-Vatican II pope who keeps his mouth shut on matters important to Catholic and Christian salavation, but not on matters that are none of the business of the Roman Catholic Church!

I wish he would concentrate on problems like this one that was in today's headlines:

Former Catholic head of Milwaukee admits he's gay

Pope Benedict XVI remains a dhimmi. He refuses to stand up for the Christian hostages living in Muslim lands and refuses to say a word about the demographic conquest of Europe by Muslims. He should stop mentioning his homelands crimes during World War 2 and start begging forgiveness for his own sins against Christendom. When he stops kissing the behind of Mohamed’s corpse, I’ll listen to him speak on Israel.

The Arabs own over 99% of the Middle East right now, so just how much more “homeland” do they need? The Arabs disposessed the Jews from their homes in the Arab world long ago.
