Did they honor Obama by making “Islam Day” a holiday in Hawaii before or after the news?

Just weighing in on this 'Islam Day' resolution that the dems passed this week. Nobody over here knew about it other than the those in congress and a small circle of their friends. Nobody knows why it's so important to pull a stunt like this at the end of the session. I suspect it's just a 'rat trap' political maneuver aimed at the current governor whose term will end next year and Lt. Governor Duke Aiona who is the front runner in the upcoming campaign.

The Islamic population in Hawaii is on record as 0, the demographic percentage is 0%.

These figures maybe suspect since Maya Soetoro Ng is in Honolulu, along with a handful of UH East-West Center professors are here but statistically accurate none the less.

I'm awaiting the date to be declared so that I can arrange a celebration.

Consider this a rant from an old curmudgeon who, for at least 80 years, has seen Hawaii spelled “Hawaii”.

Why, suddenly, has Hawaii become Hawai’i? An affectation if I ever saw one.

I remember distinctly that when the Japs bombed Pearl, it was located on Oahu, Hawaii. Even the main stream press spelled it Hawaii.

Can’t teach an old dog new tricks, I guess.
