I'm not ragging on you but there is no reason a self-governing people should ever have to worry about their President or Congress abusing power to the levels we now fear.
In my mind the question isn't whether it is wrong to coerce information out of a barbarian the question is how long are the people of this country going to pass off blame for the government we have on government?

If there were no reasons to fear terrible abuses of power by our own government, the founding fathers would never have put in the Bill of Rights. I think they knew better.

Even if we did sign an agreement with Iran to treat terrorist prisoners humanely, no terrorist would say that such an agreement applied to them. They would still cut off heads. Saying that we are going to treat prisoners humanely only makes us feel good while the terrorists continue to chop heads. Kind of high cost for that tingle up the leg.
Your first point is moral equivalency. I you see the Nazi's bombing Britain and getting tortured the same as AQ torturing, then you have a lot of analytical work to do. Countries under attack by dictators and terrorists would have the moral high ground for my money.
I don't think it is appropriate to regulate one's behavior toward another based upon "country of origin" or "what he was wearing". Moral concepts seem rigid to me.

My behavior is not determined by the misbehavior of another. I make my own way through this issue. I've never been one to follow the croud.
I'm not sure you've read all of my posts. I am all in favor of DECLARING war and wiping those people off the face of the earth. It is the cowardly act of brutalizing people who are bound and hooded that bugs the crap out of me.
