Cantor is hanging out with Juan McCain and formed the National Council for a New America.............to throw conservate party principles overboard.
American Spectator May 2009 edition (On The Prowl) says Cantor voted present on the infamous exec bonuses bill. He claimed that he did so not because he didnt want to vote against the bill, but because Cantor's wife is an executive of a bank that received TARP bailout money.
Item continues, Now Democrats are attempting to determine if Cantors wife received a bonus for her work in the 2008 fiscal year.
Bingo- Get rid of the DEMOCRATS who control the Legislature
It is one thing to comment on a rep from another state, but when people -- and you know who they are -- go out of their way to elect a democrat in a state because they dislike the current Republican in that state that is over the line. I actually looked up the guy running the draft Arpaio site that got everyone so excited and he is from Florida! Well, pardon me while I puke since I wouldn't consider either Crist or Martinez anything to write home about and this guy should be trying to elect a conservative in his own state not trying to draft Arpaio here in Arizona.
Like I said you all have your own problems right there in California since it appears you have a Whitman v Brown race next year and I wouldn't give two cents for either person, much less Barbara Boxer or Diane Feinstein or Pelosi... personally, California has a whole lot more problems than we have over here in Arizona and it would be more constructive for people to put their energies in trying to right that ship and let us keep our ship over her standing upright... because McCain is still better than any of the democrats who will oppose him next year. IF a good, electable conservative opposes him, I'll vote for that person in the primary, but I will not vote for a democrat for any reason against him.
If Cantor’s wife is a bank executive that received bailout money, then there was a definite conflict of interest when he lobbied House Republicans to vote for the bailout bill.
You’re right. “Happy” was a poor choice of words. My apologies.
As to Whitman, I have doubts that she’ll be the candidate. But time will tell. In the meantime, I’ll support Chuck DeVore for Senate (if our CA GOP “purple party” pushers don’t squash him before he gets the chance).
As to Arpaio, I posted only once on those threads to correct the misinformation being posted (saying he was a Democrat). As to Simcox, I suggested folks do some research before entrusting him with their money. I still hope that you folks can get another choice.
I hope you have someone other than Whitman to support -- I am aware she is a good friend of McCain's -- and someone who is electable to oppose Brown. I shudder to think CA is going to have another round of Jerry Brown as governor... I remember his daddy and I remember when he was governor and they were both bad...and on the senate side I think I would vote for anyone to get rid of Boxer.
I don’t think Whitman is electable at all. She is liberal, unappealing, has no experience, doesn’t understand issues. She will not inspire the sleeping giant to get to the polls, what we need if we are ever to win an election. The only one I can think of that is worse is Carly Fiorina (who our purple party pushers want to run for Senate instead of DeVore). Arnie’s GOP ‘leadership’ has made sure that our back bench is empty, except for some milquetoast liberals(R). The hijacking of our state party is complete. In short, we’re screwed and the Dems are already licking their lips a taking over the governorship.
I still completely disagree with you that “McCain is still a fiscal and social conservative.” I think he is neither. Better than a dem, sometimes. But then a Dem doesn’t get the MSM portrayinig them as the representative GOP opinion, either. Pushing stuff like McCain Feingold, McCain Kennedy, Cap-and-trade, and amnesty are not conservative in the least. That he might have had some good votes otherwise doesn’t erase these other actions that are working to totally change the U.S. It’s sickening.
McCain is a egotistical jerk and I actually disagree with him on bringing zero pork home to Arizona -- sometimes it is needed like our sewer system none of us wanted and the Federal Government said we had to install and is putting a world of hurt on all the cities up and down the Colorado River, in that case the feds demanded it, THEY should help pay for it; but even when Kyl and Franks managed to eek out a little money, McCain killed it.
HE voted for TARP out of fear and because Romney told him and Bush it was needed. BIG mistake on his part and on Bush's fault IMHO... he is a social conservative -- his daughter is another story... like I said I don't like him, don't like his personality, but so far he is better than the alternatives. What I'm wondering is what he will do when Amnesty comes up again. If it comes up before the election I don't think he will support Obama and if we can kill it one more time I doubt they will bring it up again.
BTW I understand a whole lot of people over here are waiting to see who declares in NV and people from AZ are looking to put most of their energy into defeating Reid as he is more dangerous than McCain.
Thanks. Sorry if I offended people but I cannot stand Juan McCain. His stupid daughter garbage makes me despise him more. I gave a bunch of money to try to get him elected too because O was/is so bad.
I have been bashed because I kind of liked Mitt but sadly he is a RINO even though he is probably a decent man.
Repubs I like:
Tom Tancredo
Tom McClintock (CA) and maybe the man who could save CA.
Alan Keyes
Fred Thompson - if Juan McCain had not run then we might have Fred as President. he would have been a GREAT President
Ron Paul - a smart and honorable man.
Rudy but a bit too RINO
Rick Santorum though a bit RINO
Pat Toomey
Reagan (obviously)
Dick Nixon - did 1/50th of the stuff Clinton & Obama have done)
I wanted to like GW but the Bush clan are too RINO
Dick Cheney - he could have been better & could have been a great President
Rush - wish he would talk about BC
Sarah Palin - the real deal
Michelle Bachmann-more guts than almost any Repub
Norm Coleman-a bit RINO but a decent guy
Bret Schundler (NJ)
Duncan Hunter - good man
Mike Huckabee - not a bad guy
JD Hayworth (please replace McCain)
Col. Alan West (ran for House seat in FL)
George Allen - a bit RINOish but could have been a good President
Two guys in PA who ran against Murtha and Kanjorski - Col something and Lor Barletta mayor of Hazelton, PA
Sanford in SC, DeMint and dozens of other Repubs i cannot think of off the top of my head.
We have a LOT of good Republicans but John McCain is NOT one. He sucks up to Dems all the time and stabs conservatives in the back all the time. I respect his military service but he needs to retire immediately. He screwed us by running for President.
Too bad for us it leaves us one less conservative to run for statewide office. Tom's done that three times with little to no support from the CAGOP. He probably doesn't look forward to getting stabbed in the back again.
McClintock is a great guy and ditto Mike Pence.
Tom McClintock may be the only person who can save CA. He would be a good President too. a zillion times better than O. Reminds me of a CA version of Fred Thompson. Common sense guy who would be like a father type telling you that you cannot spend the country or state (CA) into bankruptcy.
Cantor hanging with McCain means he is a RINO in my book.
I think Boehner is a decent guy.
Michelle Bachmann is one of my favorite Republicans lately.
Palin-Bachmann 2012
You are right. I cannot stand Mel Martinez, Charlie Crist, Dem Bill Nelson (total idiot). The Dems in FL in the House are mostly horrible. A few of the N FL blue Dog Dems are okay.
I wish I know why Mel Martinez is not running for re-election. I hope we can get a conservative. So far it looks liek Crist (barf), Marco Rubio conservative but where does he stand on the border. Maybe Bill McCollum. Jeb could probably win it and he is the most conservative Bush. I would not be suprised if Jeb runs for President in 2012. I do not want another Bush in the White House but anything is better than what we have in the White hut.
I do think McCain can be beaten in the primary. J.D. Hayworth Simcox or anybody. The guy who ran the house race who was for protecting the borders might be good.
I single out McCain because the Specter purge followed by a McCain getting the boot would have the RINOs on the run. Lindsay Graham in SC.
While McCain is not a likeable figure, he is no Arlen Specter, Olympia Snowe or Susan Collins. His voting record is no where near as liberal as those three... and he is not happy about the backlassh he received over the border which may play into our hands. Right now we need reliable GOP votes, even if we don't like the person delivering the vote. I don't think Crist would be a reliable vote, ergo I really am not thrilled at the thought of him replacing Martinez.
What and get Jerry Brown?
You’re welcome!
Steve Poisner please pick up the white courtesy phone.
See the map in post #34. That shows the liberal counties in brown and the conservative (and mostly rural) counties in green, Unfortunately, the liberal counties have a higher population density (city folks).
That is the same problem in every state; I suspect a lot more ACORN fraud emanating from those cities, too. Right now I am wondering if the good citizens of California are going to wake up to the damage the water ruling has and is doing to their state and fight back once and for all. According to a report on Hannity last night this one ruling — which I have not heard of Arnie pushing back against so please correct me if I missed it — has already cost 80,000 jobs in the central valley, but more than the lost jobs is we as a country will now be importing even more fruits and vegetables — get ready for more e-coli and salmonella stories coming down the line. One of the reasons California was such a great state was it’s climate made it a bread basket for the country and it’s rich resources in oil, etc., also brought in a lot of $$$ now the greenies don’t want either coming out of that state.
