"You don't have to cast my thought process into dispersion
Classic.
It would be hard to find any reason for even the most anal twits around here not get behind him 100%.
His character isn't irrelevant. Not to me anyway. And it isn't like a governor wouldn't have an effect on the state gun laws. Since we've enacted CCW, there's been a few attempts to soften it and all have failed. I have no reason to believe that the gun control forces will just go away and Kasich has already proven he's 'negotiable'.
But isn’t he a supporter of illegal immigration?
I really don't know. But, as governor of Ohio, they'll only immigration issues he'll have to worry about are drunk Canadians at Put-in-Bay.
I played that game in the 2008 Prez election. As Jim Rob said in another thread - No More! I'll actively campaign against Kasich. I'm about as 'pragmatic' on this issue as some are on the pro-Life issue - iow, not pragmatic at all. Perhaps you'll understand that too. John Kasich (and his type) is exactly what's wrong with the Republican Party today.
Mark Steyn would be one of those rare people who would counter Hitchens to a standstill.
Love Kasich. Hope he does well.
Well, I see the so-called republicans in OheilO didn’t learn a thing from the last two elections. The country club repugs like Taft are still running things. Another RHINO who’ll ensure a dem landslide.
Steyn, Sowell, Buckley (the dead one)and I think Gingrich could all better Hitchens. But, that's about it. I think that Buchanan, Liddy and Alan Keyes are all Hitchens' intellectual equals, but they've moved into the kook category just a little too far to be taken seriously anymore.
Hitchens is a Marxist, but at least he recognizes the dangers of the Islamic jihadists.
the desire for a 100% pure candidate is not going to be healthy for this party. Purity is not a possibility in politics. No President, Congressman, Governor or Mayor are going to do everything in alignment with a political philosophy. If a large portion demands only candidates who are in agreement on every single vote along their career, we are going to disqualify most decent candidates. Kasich brings the fiscal responsibility this party needs to return to and he would be great for Ohio and for Ohio’s prospects in national elections. We can turn away from him, let Strickland win and let the state slide further in line with the Democratic party, or we can get a fiscal conservative elected governor who would do wonders to advance that philospophy to Ohioans and to the nation.
Right now Blackwell is hailed as a true conservative hero here. Should Blackwell decide to run for another office, expect some posters to call him a “dirty” RINO for endorsing Steele for RNC Chair.
bingo!
Oh thank the LORD!!!
I don't think it is 'asking for purity' to uphold the Constitution. There are certain policies that if someone is going to call themselves a Republican (or run under that label) that they should stand firm on - lower taxes, lower spending, smaller gov't, and the respect for the three main individual rights of Life, Liberty and Property.
From there, they can wing it as far as I'm concerned but they better have all of those at the front of their mind whenever proposing or voting on legislation. If they don't, I don't support them and frankly, I don't think that's asking that much. Their votes might not always win and I can accept that as part of the process, but if they don't even try or cave, then I have no use for them.
I'll be supporting him....
Mos Def is a retard.
I have always like John.
