Wow, all I have to do is ask and my questions are answered. That’s awesome.

Next up: why is it killing people in Mexico but producing a milder recoverable flu here in the US?

“Theories” were alluded to during the most recent WH presser but no follow-up question occured as to what those theories might be.

But that & overcrowding/jammed packed city doesn’t explain why the virus is deadlier. Does it?

How many US patients saw a Doc and got prescription sooner? How many in Mexico? What were the living conditions of those in Mexico? Clean water etc? Until we know more about Mexican victims can't answer. I wonder what other infectious diseases in Mexico kill more than in US? Hepatitis, TB? I do not know.

Is there something genetic involved with swine flu in Hispanics? Are any US patients Hispanic?

How many that died in Mexico were druggies with compromised immune systems? That’s the question.

I have been to Mexico 5 times, been there a total of 7 months. This was some time ago, and I imagine that for the very poor things are worse than ever. If you have never been to a third world country, it is hard to imagine just how bad things can be. Mexico is not considered a third world country, but its pockets (steamer trunks) of povery certainly qualify.

A poor Mexican lives on corn tortillas and beans, with a few vegetables and a little meat if they are not the poorest. I think that Vitamin C in the diet is very important, so if you get the flu eat plenty of fresh raw fruit and vegetables and take some vitamins.

Yah I heard that, too. Her incompetence is mind-boggling.

All good questions from you.

Here’s something else infinitely helpful (not):

“Alabama Department of Public Health held a news conference to say there are no reported swine flu cases there.”

The key word is ‘reported’.

While experts believe Mexico is the epicenter of the outbreak, they don't know if another virus might be circulating in Mexico that could be compounding the problem. The Mexican death rate sounds bad. But it's possible that far more than 1,000 people have been infected with the virus.

Genetic analysis of virus samples in the two countries is continuing. The CDC says tests results show the U.S. and Mexican viruses are essentially the same, but some experts have not ruled out the possibility that the virus is changing as it leaks across the border to the north.

That’s a good point I heard yesterday, too. Someone on tv. If 100,000+ people have the virus and 81 have died there, it’s easier to understand that only <100 infected people in the USA would result in no deaths so far.

I have questioned this right along, the genetic component.
So many cases seem to be emerging from Mexico City, is this because there is better medical care there, better health department reporting, statistics gathering as opposed to out in the country side or rural areas. Therefore, are the Mexican authorities dealing with a much larger problem than they realize? Far too many questions.

Did this start mild and increase in virulence as it worked it’s way through the populace? I do not want to go down that street. Too many questions.
